Then got struck out by him (badly) two at bats later.

What can I say, I had zero desire to watch basketball last night.

I talked to a guy yesterday who covered the Vandy regional. He said Dunn had the best secondaries from a college pitcher he's ever seen. Said he could go into a major league bullpen "right damn now!"

I don't doubt it. He mixed his pitches up nicely last night (except two  ). Watching a couple of his fastballs get away up & out of the zone, I'd think twice about digging in on him as well. Because of his slight frame (where have I heard that one before  ) I'd wonder when/if he could really be a reliable 7 inn. starter.

And I'm with you on Collins. Seems like a nice kid that wakes up hitting. But if I'm the Sox, he's behind the plate at least 80-90 games a year. His defense looks solid (enough) & teams don't run enough to make his average arm a liability.

Not liking what I've seen so far from Collins. His defense may be much further along than expected, but his bat is still a long ways off. Kyle Schwarber or Andrew Benintendi (Sox passed on both for Rodon, which is acceptable, and Fulmer, which is not) he is not.

Luckily the rest of the draft class is wildly outperforming any reasonable expectations.

Hit 2 homers last August 23rd. Kid's gonna be a star

.820 OPS with good power and 20% walk rate. Most importantly he is going to make it as a catcher, Collins is looking great as far as I'm concerned. I hope he gets the call to Birmingham with the arrival of this draft class.

His receiving/framing skills still pretty 'Meh'. might not stick at catcher.

Post subject:  Re: Collins-STUD-World Series

At this point there is almost no doubt that if he makes it to the majors it will be as a catcher. He may not finish his MLB career behind the plate, but he'll almost definitely start it there.
