I have no idea how this idiot can manage to paint a straight line.

I would rather let the sting go away and then reopen the wound, than pile on right afterwards. This is going to last for YEARS as the Cubs continue to dominate and the SUX remain irrelevant. Watch them trade Sale for what they consider top prospects and then those prospects fail. The big difference is that Theo and Jed are just a whole lot smarter than Kenny and Hahn. Kenny lacks "the necessities" to carry out a plan similar to the Cubs model.

Man leash is really taking this hard.

It's not your fault that the Cubs winning has kickstarted the apocalypse.

Well not just your fault.

Yours and maybe 800K of your friends' fault,

It just made the Cubs winning the Series even more enjoyable for me. Having guys like America, Waiting for Ruffcorn and Frank suffer while watching the Cubs win it, after chirping so much when they were down 3-1 in the series.....priceless.

By the way girls, it only gets worse from here, as the Cubs will have Schwarber for the whole season in 2017 and probably add a couple other nice pieces (Jansen I hope) as well. The Cubs are in a great position to have a long period of sustained excellence.....superiority really. While the pale hose may well continue to wallow in ineptitude and become entirely irrelevant.

Not a chance in the world Almora matches 2016 Fowler and Cub success was incredibly reliant on his presence

Fun is fun and the give and I enjoy the give and take of the eternal Sox/Cub battle but then you throw in something gratuitous.

I bet your kids and most of their friends want Cubs stuff for Xmas, the Cubs will be roping in hundreds of thousands new fans, the Sox will only be less n less relevant.. I'd be surprised if the Sox are in Chicago in 12 years.

I didn't even read Steve's post, it is just something I've noticed the past couple months..people like winners, look at all the W flags around the South side..that's how ya suck in a new and future fan base.

You know when Cubs Nation decides to call the White Sox front office unintelligent n*****s it makes me really wish the Cubs had a showcase game scheduled in Medellín sometime soon. Validates everything I hate about that garbage fanbase and the travesty it continues to be even in victory.

Because Kenny has never shown the ability to construct a good farm system and develop players. The players that succeed from their minor league system are mostly starting pitchers and they mostly came nearly ready when they were drafted. Every year it's the same old patchwork approach, with mostly 2nd or 3rd tier players past their prime. he has not demonstrated the ability to grow a team and I think he's incapable, or their minor league system would be a lot better by now.

While the Al Campanis reference might stir the pot, the above assessment of Kenny and the job he has done.....or failed at, is one I stand by.

So that means if Theo is around for another 6 years and the Cubs don't win another title, he will be a failure too.

I also stand by my statement of you knowing exactly what were you saying. You made no mention of the white Rick Hahn.

I don't believe Hahn has ever had free reign. If he has, it's curious that he has chosen the same patchwork approach that Kenny has used. Theo and the Cubs will certainly win another title in the next 6 years. I am guessing at least 2 more. Not only do they have more good players on the way from the minors, but new (huge) revenue streams opening and construction costs gone soon too. So they will be able to keep the Rizzos, Bryants, and Schwarbers, as well as the Russells, the Baez's and Contreras'. It's so good to be a Cub fan these days. :D

Two more in the next six? WILL.NOT.HAPPEN.

If you are smart enough to have read some of the new issues on the now CBA, the luxury tax can get as high as 92% so its very unlikely that the Cubs will be able to pay all of the guys you listed. And if they do, you are going to have a bunch of bums making league minimum around them.

I am not saying they will win anymore.

But this time last year you would have said they were never winning any. So I am not sure you are one to be making these statements

My heart said the Cubs will never win any. My head knew they were a good enough team to win one. Of course that was a terrible thing to have to admit, so here I didn't need to. They have a real chance to win another going forward, but two in the next six is an incredibly tall task in MLB.

Besides, the title they already won was not even a big deal to Steve so it clearly doesn't matter to him what the Cubs do from here on out.

I agree 2 in the next 6 would be really hard.

No one believes that the title didnt mean anything to the guy who was proclaiming "end the wait in 08"

Correct, it's not a big deal. I want them to contend year in and year out and give me an entertaining team to follow. I believe that another couple titles will come their way, but if that should fail to happen, my life will not be any different really. As for your comment about the luxury tax, that is why it is important NOT to bring a guy like Fowler back, when they have a guy like Almora ready to take over CF. Sure, it's nice to have Jay signed, just in case Almora unexpectedly struggles or someone in the outfield gets hurt. But replacing higher priced free agents with far lower cost players that may be even better is great when possible. The Sox know nothing about this, since their minor league system so seldomly supplies anything but starting pitching. Once a decade an Anderson or Beckham comes around. but even those guys are nothing special.
