Yea arbitration, he opted into it. Really more of a settlement.

I don't know with 100% certainty, but I don't think the MLB has restrictions on how quickly a newly-inked player can be traded like the NBA does, especially because Abreu is, technically, still under team control and not an unrestricted free agent. So he could still have this deal traded, and soon.

They can trade him today. He's a bargain at $10M.

Another reason why they may not flip Abreu is that there are a ton of free agent first baseman still out there who it looks like are going to have to play on bargain contracts:
