I'm sure GMs are going to be knocking down the door to acquire the AL walks leader.

FWIW, Kyle Tucker is currently Slugging .660 in the Carolina League, which has a run environment comparable to the MLB level.

I'm confused. I thought the biggest selling point this manager that they hired from the Cubs had was that he spoke the same language as the guy they got from the Sawx. Now they also have to pay their struggling first baseman to mentor this guy too? Do all people who speak Spanish like each other? Do all younger Spanish speakers look up to and listen to older Spanish speakers?

Seems like a couple of expensive mentors. I'd rather have the manager concentrate on not doing what he did to get himself fired before. I'd rather have the first baseman concentrate on hitting than mentoring the other guy.

What is he struggling with?

I believe there is quite a culture shock with coming from Cuban. I don't think it's a bad thing to have someone who has done it before as a mentor.

He's been better the last two weeks but before that he was in Adam Dunn territory.

A $15 million per year mentor seems a bit excessive. I'd rather have Abreu concentrate on his hitting and you can hire some guy to babysit the guy from Boston.

What the manager "did" to get himself fired before was be unable to win with a team that wasn't ready while working for a callow boss who saw a new "toy" he wanted, i.e. the guy who dresses his players in funny outfits, says "man" a lot, almost blew the 2016 World Series single-handedly, and now is about to be run out of town for winning only 87 games with the "best collection of talent ever assembled". That's what is known as a RAW DEAL.

Raw Deal or not I'd be fine with letting another team gobble up the evil team's unwanted scraps. Let him mentor somewhere else.

If he was an "unwanted scrap" why did Theo (S.A.W.) sign him in the first place? Is He not infallible in matters of baseball?

Thought you were a Win~ loss guy? He's 49-32 with a 3.25 era in a hitters park...not impressed by that?

If the Greatest Leader in the World (/sarcasm off) is so great why did Boston have to undo his mess as soon as he left?

Hiring your rival's unwanted scraps when you are already an afterthought in your industry is not a great way to undo that perception. It almost makes hiring Terry Bevington look sane.

I don't know about that. If you're giving up your top prospects, three seasons of control well below market rate is a big deal.

You know I'm not going to argue that Quintana is anywhere near the pitcher Darvish is.
