You're in good hands, and I'll be happy for you guys when it all comes together.

I find your faith in a GM who couldn't win/build around a core of Sale/Quintana/Eaton/Rodon/Abreu very questionable.

Kenny was up in his shit.

Why did you include Rodon on that?

He's also forgetting that Abreu has been mediocre at best since his rookie season.

I think he is still here for 2 reasons:

1. The guy they got from the Sawks
2. The Cuban 19yr old to sign here

It makes sense. The Cubs gave a crappy cuban pitcher with mono 5 million just as an "in" to sign Jorge Soler.

This isn't true.

He isn't an MVP...but he isn't mediocre.

Caller Bob struggles with talent evaluation. Sad.

In 2016, Abrue's 1.6 fWAR ranked 14th out of 23 qualified 1st baseman in MLB. I didn't say terrible, I said mediocre. That's mediocre.
By, thanks for playing.

If I'm taking a college pitcher who was praised as most major league ready at 3rd overall he better be in my core.

It does. In fact 1B defense slightly surpasses DH defense on the hierarchy of importance.

Also, you wrote "since his rookie season" but you only chose to cite 16, which was his worst year.

Getting into analysis of the raw statistics, his 2016 season could be divided into the time before his son was released from an oppressive regime to be returned to his father and the time after such an occurrence.

You do realize bad defense can be quantified correct? Oh never mind Sox fans, TWTW, WINT, whatever....

Why don't the Cubs put Baez at first?

It's pretty unfair how much people built up Caller Bob and set him up to fail.

anything can be quantified

accurately quantified is another matter. A "stat" that uses subjective data has dubious validity. I don't believe there is a defensive metric for which this isn't true.

2+2=4 irrespective of who makes the calculation. "he should have made that play", no matter how fine you think you can calculate "should have" is subjective.

My only mistake was trying to have a "baseball" discussion with White Sox fans only to realize what an incredibly low IQ this fan base has. I might as well explain this to a Labrador retriever, but here it goes, you fucking retards. A statement was made, that Hahn couldn't build around the core of players Sale/Quintana/Eaton/Rodon/Abreu. It was correctly pointed out, that Rodon, (who to this point has only given you "average" production as a starter) shouldn't be in that group of star players. I furthered the point, that after his great 2014, Abreu had failed to match that 5 fWAR season, which is the definition of an "star player". In 2016, had Rodon continued to ascend to a 4+ fWAR pitcher and Abreu matched his 2014 production. that's seven more wins and you are contending for the 2nd wildcard. Abreu isn't any worse of a defender now than he was two years ago, but to make up for that defense and be a 5 win player, he needs to hit in the top 3 at his position. So again, I hope this can provide clarity as to why Hahn didn't win with that "core".

Go back to your coloring books, PRICK.

It's not just the Sox fans. Literally no one on this board tries to have a serious baseball conversation, no one is interested in that. You made a rookie mistake but you realized your error quickly.

There is no serious baseball discussion that cares about 1B defense.
