They are one by difference maker away from having a fine ballclub.

Sox got a long way to go. A long way to go. Proven starting pitching, any relief pitching, defense.

You truly are a meatball. Never change.

Very nice to see Giolito's line today though

Again, I ask the question again of conns: tanking or not

I'm itching to put that next cub fan notch on my belt

Assuming Rodon is part of the team's future (or at least next season), what is their projected (or most realistic looking rotation)?

#1 Rodon
#2 M.Gonzalez (??)
#3 L.Giolito
#4 R.Lopez (??)
#5 J.Shields

- Not sure if they look to bring back Miguel Gonzalez or another veteran type (similar to the Holland idea, but different) to fill out a spot or two in the rotation, hope they can be traded at the deadline (unlikely given that Gonzalez has been reasonably decent this year and he's still around and Shields contract/performance are a dead end), take pressure off any of these kids, etc or how James Shields fits in other than he'll likely be on the roster, though not necessarily a starter.
- My assumption is that some of their other prized prospects will need more seasoning in the minors so the players up now are the leading candidates heading into spring training, but the competition could change the thought process.

Hitting wise, are they are they committed to Avi Garcia? If they sell 'high', what can they even expect to get for him?

Looks like they are probably set at most positions:

C K.Smith
1B J.Abreu
2B Y.Moncada
3B M.Davidson
SS T.Anderson
LF / CF: ?? (some combination of probably what's here already)
RF: A.Garcia
DH: M.Davidson and others.

Overall, 2019 contention will come down to how the pitching develops next season. They have to feel pretty good about Moncada obviously, but if they have a legitimate top 3 of the rotation with good upside from the back 2, 2019 could be the year they start to look like a possible contender.

That's possibly the worst infield in MLB history.

I don't know. None of those guys can field, for one thing. Abreu tries and Timmy may work it out. I have no idea about Moncada except that he's a butcher now, and Fulmer could probably play a better third base than Davidson. That's some bad defense right now....

This article could be written today about Tim Anderson:

https://retrosimba.com/2013/03/08/how-b ... shortstop/

I can remember being devastated when Aparicio was traded for the second time and my dad telling me not to worry, Bee Bee Richard was going to be as good as Looie but faster. My first disappointment as a Sox fan.

My only memory of Bee Bee I have was the day he went from second to home on a sac fly.

The rest was utterly forgettable.

I think Anderson will bounce back, but if he doesn't it's not a show stopper for the rebuild. Look at the useful players they may have found this year, Avi, Leury, Davidson, and Sanchez. The year through August at least has to be considered a success for the rebuild.

 Yeah, but Bee Bee Richard's walk rates are almost Eddie Yost-esque in comparison to Anderson's.

Tanking. You can't lose every game.

The Sox were off yesterday, so nobody did watch them.

Gif better.

They probably don't want to pitch to Buxton this series.

Even when Anderson gets a hit, he fucks up and makes an out . His contract may end up being worse than Sheilds.

Most re-used line in a game story this year:
