They'll promote him at the beginning of a prolonged homestand for the attendance boost. My guess is Saturday the 27th, with the announcement coming during Friday's doubleheader so people have plenty of time to get online and buy tickets.

Sounds about right

True. Probably a week after the break. While they can call him up now and not lose control, they'll wait to pass the Super Two threshold.

I have not been worried about Giolito at all. I knew when they traded for him that there would be a major overhaul to his mechanics and his performance would suffer greatly as a result. The no hitter this early in the season will hopefully really boost his confidence in the kind of changes the Sox are making. I wasn't expecting him to turn it all around at all this year in the minors (or at least until August) so if this proves to be the moment where Giolito has it all come together it would be a very welcome surprise.

Wasn't this said, when the Sox acquired him?

I think the Sox explicitly said they were going to do a complete tear down on his mechanics, but even if they didn't say that we all could've anticipated it. The Sox love tinkering.

Lowers his era to 5.33

ERA is probably the worst measure of a prospect like Giolito. Maybe in a couple months you'll want to see game success, but it's much more important right now that he can repeat his delivery (aka control) while keeping his fastball (unlikely) and curve (doable).

There are still going to be innings where be loses his mechanics and gets roughed up, but at least now we know he is capable of staying consistent while going through a lineup 3 times. The next step is extending that consistency not just for another inning, but game after game. It's going to take a lot more time.

The Minors only play 7 inning games in doubleheaders. By rule, its an official No Hitter.

Better than giving up a single, hitting a guy, and striking out 20.

You can call it whatever you want FlapJacks, but if it wasn't 9 innings, it's not a real no- hitter.

Not really late. He's only 24.

Hansen went 7 striking out 15 and walking none.

Hansen is a very intriguing prospect. Was supposedly a top 5 pick heading into his final year of college but let the pressure get to him and had a rough season. Believe he might have had some elbow concerns as well. Either way, it sounds like he's found his previous form.

That is what I read too. But when you are pitching like he is....watch out! He has from my memory, about 3-4 great starts in a row.

Sox definitely have some arms to be excited about. Lopez, Kopech, Hansen, Burdi and now Giolito might be coming around. Dunning was off to a damn good start but has struggled a bit with the move up to High A ball.

Used to take a medication for attention, that MiLB approved. He stopped taking it, but then started again and was suspended because he didn't notify them. He said he went through some struggles, but sounded like he sorted everything out and is on a nice path.
