no other explanation for how this team is over .500 after 19 games. Pretty embarrassing for Theo to have let this guy go in favor of a more expensive and inferior manager.

I cannot remember the last time the Sox were competitive in games against the teams in their division.

Classic dolphin.

And who knows, maybe it was his year in the Cub organization that taught Ricky the "Cub Way" is the right way?

I really don't want this team to be .500 come game 162. If you are gonna rebuild, go for the higher pick.

Outside of Quintana, they are pitching very well. That is the only explanation needed.

A true once in a generation baseball mind would have pointed out to 312 that the Sox had the best bullpen in the league for the first ~5-6 weeks of the 2016 season. With a pen like that, any manager should be able to win at a .571 clip. I figured such a sage baseball mind as yourself would have either remembered this, or looked it up. I guess I was wrong to give you that much credit.

Happy is a great manager. But it's hard to argue the results with 2016 World Series Champion, Joe Maddon.

a once in a lifetime mind would have pointed out that he also had Sale and Eaton, the best right fielder in this city

Oh man, this fall is going to hurt.

Garcia has a sub .700 OPS over his last 7 games. The downward trend has already started.

Heyward has a sub .700 OPS over his last 7 months of games.

Heyward is also making about $25 million more than Avi this season.

Avi will never have the career Heyward has had. Avi will never sniff that salary or the total performance.

Because Heyward is a much better defender. Avi will hit better than Heyward this year.

Yeah I wouldn't count on this.

Maybe if he does tear that ACL and his season stats stop now

Defense only matters at 1B. We're in the Caller Bob era now.

Two-run home run to continue a nice April. Rooting for injury now? Low.

 I said Heyward will always be better because he's a much better defender. That's saying that defense obviously matters a lot.

Nothing I said here is rooting for an injury.

Try to keep up around here. FF said in another thread that he has started off so well that he will probably tear his ACL now.

And Leury Garcia wants some of this action.

I hope Renteria leads the Sox to a respectable season. I liked the guy and think he is a solid baseball man.

Their career OPS is about the same. I don't think that will change this year.

It's not really a high bar for Avi to surpass the career Heyward has had. Just because someone was dumb enough to pay one of them 184 million doesn't change that.

And in a time when 7 of your outs are likely to come via the strikeout the value of corner outfield defense isn't really very high.
