Hmm. Good point.

If it's Row-bear then it'll be great.

His last name is Marial or something. Robert is his middle name.

I wonder what they do with him. I'm thinking they keep in him extended for a couple weeks then send him out to low A. Let him play the entire 2nd half in CF. Hopefully he can stay there.

You think he signed with the Sox to not play with the other Cuban?

Moncada is further along than he is. They'll be playing together in a couple years.

Are there any projections on where he'd rank in the MLB top 100 prospects? I assume he'd be in that list with this price tag.

KLaw said he probably won't be on his top 100.

He would be the runaway #1 overall pick if he were in this coming draft.

That's because he's an unknown. What if he played this year in the SEC and had a 30% strikeout rate like Jeren Kendall. He wouldn't be the runaway 1-1.

What's the comp of the Cuban League in terms of collegiate league difficulty? Big Ten, PAC-10, SEC?

Well he put up better numbers as a 19 year in Serie A than Abreu did in his 20's in the same league. His speed grades seem to universally land around 70, as does his power. I cant pretend to have actually watched much of him, but what I've read indicates that the guy is almost definitely a top 25 overall prospect right now with as much (or maybe even more) raw talent than even Moncada.

Kendall has tools too. 70 run 60 power 60 defense 60 arm. 40 hit. That's the separator. I'm not going to scout the stat line of the Cuban league.

Well OK but Robert did hit like .450 in Cuba.

BP in their baseball annual this year had a piece about how the Cuban League isn't really the Cuban League, anymore, because the trade normalization has resulted in so many of their youngest and best prospects hopping over to the MLB or other Central American leagues to try to make the MLB.

But suffice it to say, this isn't like some whiffle ball bat league or anything. His dominance isn't that much different from a high school or college prospect dominating their respective leagues?

I'm told the Cards won the bidding and it wasn't even close. Maybe if they traded one of their high priced veterans they would have had more money to spend on the "rebuild."

Keyser using Goff's "Lebron to the Bulls is eminent" guy as a source.

The best part is he made that post like a half hour before Robert changed his Instagram profile pic to the white sox one.

I don't think it can be said he would be a runaway #1 pick...but it seems just as silly to say he would not be a top 100 prospect either. Gotta be some middle ground in there.

Cubans get lazy and dysfunctional once they get "paid". See Puig and Soler.

Chapman suicided his arm for the Cubs about a month before his big payday.
