I know I have read and heard about what a POS team the 2006 Sox team was after the WS title in 2005. Mostly from Cub fans and the like just giving us grief that we did not repeat.

Now I want to make clear I put this in the Sox section for Sox fans. They did win 90 games that following year correct?

Yes. They were a juggernaut in the first half of the season but fell apart in the second half.

That pitching staff was gassed after the all star break. And still, it took a huge Minnesota hot streak to jump them.

Yeah in looking back they weren't as terrible as I remember. Contreras wore down and Vazquez blew down the stretch pitching on short rest.

Was Vazquez here already? I remember Garland just being atrocious in August and September and Sweaty Freddy in about the same shape.

I'm just trying to repress my memories of his time here. It just pisses me off.

He was good the next year...when we didn't need him...

Exactly. Small game Javy. Wilted in the run up to the 08 playoffs, too.

It's funny you think the Cubs are more relevant than the Bears in Chicago

Do I have to go over again how the Cubs are perhaps the least relevant major sports franchise in the city of Chicago?

First comes the realization that the mundane 2016 can never match up to the dominant 2005, now this.

Sox and Cubs are equal in my lifetime. Neither franchise has much to brag about imho. Cubs this year are blessed to be in the worst division in baseball otherwise I doubt they would make playoffs(Cubs would have gotten their asses kicked if they payed like this in the AL Central in 2006). Does anyone here actually think the Cubs will go 58-39 the rest of the way to win 90 games.? I don't. Lesson to cub fans. Don't count your championships before you have actually won them.

They are talking on the score this morning about the job Maddon is doing this year. Is there any doubt Ozzie would be getting torched by the fans and media if he was doing this crap with the Cubs? The lineup stuff alone would have him on the train out of town.

I'm not sure what Maddon can do, so many guys are not producing.. What moves can he make?

You're missing Mike's point. The point is that if a manager on the same footing in this city for the other team (in this case, 2005 World Series Winning Manager Ozzie Guillen) were making the same constant lineup juggling bullshit moves, or in some cases, not making moves that needed to be made, he would be getting torched by the media in this town that is currently too busy sucking off Clark the Cub to notice that this team isn't nearly as dominant and their flaws are showing this year.

One manager is white and the other was a minority.

COINCIDENCE??

Are you saying that the media in this town is racist?

If so, of course they are. Senior Columnist is the ringleader of that bunch.
