Return will be comparable to what they got for Duke last year. They'll be lucky to get that for Melky (though I think Melky is actually a really good player).

Kahnle, Robertson and maybe even Swarzak are the ones who could bring something really interesting in.

I don't see any mention of him being traded tonight; he'll likely be moved over the next few weeks, and they're get a lower end prospect, some team's 25th best prospect.

todd frazier compelled me to come up with the phrase "you don't gotta hit .240 if you hit 40" [HR] --- happy trails!

i get it from the red sox' perspective if they don't have to give up much for him. if devers isn't ready to bring him in for a year or two or whatever (IIRC the most frazier has left on his wsox deal is 1 more season, if it's not up aftert this one) and you shoot for lightning in a bottle that maybe playing some #MeaningfulBaseball will wake him up and bring out that .240/40/90 guy in him, maybe he can even swipe a few bags [remember when he used to do that?] and yeah, you know, at least it aint like trotting out sandoval.... even though the 3B they've been playing with baseball-linsanity has been a nice little guy for them, if it's cheap enough it's prolly worth kicking the tires to have someone there until it's official time for the devers era.

lamentably, his value plummeted at a horrible time for the wsox here. i'd say just like quintana but evidently he's good enough to land judge-midwest even when he's having a horrible season, so what do i know?

also, i'd be willing to bet that the general-malaise of frazier and quintana this year = why jerry's other team was relatively-quick to sell off butler for whatever they could get ASAP, before any injuries or "WGAF!?-style-regression" could set in and kill his trade value. THANKS TODD!

I'm pretty sure that a lot of ppl think one of the main reasons theo is in Chicago nowadays is that he was "forced" to sign Carl Crawford and acquire Adrian Gonzalez (for a prospect named Anthony Rizzo, no less) by upper management. You know, that the Mets-style-spending that the sawx did was SO NOT THEO that he decided to get out of dodge ASAP and go somewhere where his pure unadulterated vision could manifest in a PLAN™®© that would inexorably bring about unparalleled baseball glory...

....provided that there was a Starbucks on the way to the office for the first OMFG!!!! photo-op, of course!! 8) 8)

Sam is on the team and he's a 1st baseman.

I'm sure they're waiting to see what the Royals do who lost tonight and are back under .500. They would obviously rather have Moose over Frazier.

(Per today's Trib) Frazier has an .769 OPS which ranks 11th in MLB among 3rd basemen and his 16 HRs would top the Red Sox. I'm not saying he's good but perhaps more desirable to a team in need than you might think.
