The White Sox are only tanking for one season. And right when it looked like they had completely gone all out for #1 overall pick they called up their consensus best prospect. They aren't really trying to lose.

2018 will be the worst season record wise in my life.

There will be no trades to look forward to. We will be in that shitty situation where draft day is the biggest day of the year.

For all the hoopla around the returns they got, the Sox still have Abreu and Avi who have been their two best players this year. Both will be on the team next season unless Hahn trades them in the next couple weeks (not out of the question).

Add Moncada and a bunch of pitchers to that, maybe a couple free agents work out better than expected and Delmonico/Polo make some waves and you have a team capable of getting hot in a weak division. Jimenez might be ready by June next year, with him the Sox would have a Moncada/Jimenez/Abreu/Avi middle order, which has the potential to the best since the Hurt/Maggs/Lee/Valentin years.

They were 63-99 a few years ago under Venchura.

I'll go out on a 5' diameter tree limb and say they do not lose 100 games next season.

A lot of wishful thinking there. Very unlikely that all happens. Better prepare yourself for 2 seasons at minimum

moreso than what the Sox are doing (which is important) the general direction of the rest of the division is just as important. That's the question. Who's rebuilding, who's not, who's competitive...

Not sure how you watch the last 6 days happen and think that bringing up Moncada means they aren't trying to lose. This team is complete dogshit right now. Next year they will be too. They will take flyers on free agent bargains. Have no offensive players ready to come up any time soon. Unless Giolito and Lopez come up next year and are great right away, its gonna be a slog next year.

I think Giolitto and Lopez will start the year in the MLB and Kopech will be up by all star break next year.

It's both? Idk. America said they have 10 guys. I just checked AAA b/c Giolito like 2 years ago was supposed to be a monster.

The BB&T park in Charlotte is a bit of a hitter's park.

Many top pitching prospects in AA, though also many in AAA once they clearly have no use for AA anymore.

Rodon at MLB
Lopez, Giolito at AAA
Kopech, Adams at AA
Cease, Hansen, Dunning, Clarkin at A+

Those are the really good ones. There are many more after them across the system who may be something but haven't shown it yet or have some other flaw: Flores, Fulmer, Stephens, Guerrero, Burdi (TJ) etc. They've got a lot of them, and it's fine to have that filling out the system when there are NINE guys leading the way who all seem destined for the majors.

Some will flop, some will wind up relievers, a few are gonna get hurt (one already has)...but it's such a strong group you have to imagine they will find themselves at least a good rotation out of it.
