Moncada better protect himself. That HBP was nearly a strike. Like Rizzo, he's always one pitch away from a broken wrist |

Just let the ball nail his wrist. But good for him for doing anything to get on base during a terrible start at the plate. |

Maybe he'll man up and respond to you or somebody else about his dumbfuck thoughts. An aside, all of those are from the same thread |

Moncada is the lynchpin to this entire thing. If he sucks, this entire house of cards falls. He is the player you fit all the other "good" players around. The only person who might match him is Eloy but he just isn't in as critical of a defensive position. They could be poised to be a pitching heavy team if these hitters stink, but none of the guys they acquired are good fielders, so life will be tough living in tight margins. |

I would say Zach Collins is a bigger lynchpin than Moncada. He was the first pick in the change of drafting philosophy and he plays a much more critical position that has absolutely no organizational depth. It's Collins or nothing. Yes it would suck if Moncada isn't the player they thought he would be but they have current short term replacements and possible longer term replacements in the minors. If Collins busts out they're fucked. |

Moncada can be an average player and as long as Jimenez/Robert/draft pick/anyone emerges as an MVP-level offensive threat the Sox will be fine. |

There haven't been any "oh I see it" moments. He's not having good AB's. Where's the easy power. Where's the speed. Let's see some range on defense or show us the strong arm. Hopefully he starts flashing some of what he can do soon. You didn't like him reaching third as the guy in front of him was rounding third base on his triple? Yoan just needs to be lucky, anyway. Clinging to that for dear life, aren't ya? |
