I hope not. I always expected better from you, Rick.

2014 Cubs system was "stronger" than the current White Sox system. Not trying to argue...just saying.

Top 20:

Kris Bryant (ROTY, MVP, 2x AS, WS champ)
Addison Russell (AS. WS champ)
Albert Almora (.747 OPS CF with amazing defense, WS champ)
Jorge Soler (Maybe the greatest AAAA player ever, but WS champ...still very young. 1.000+ OPS in AAA this season in ~40 games)
CJ Edwards (future closer, WS champ)
Kyle Schwarber (major bust)
Billy McKinney (.887 OPS in AAA this season, should be a decent starter or really good 4th outfielder)
Pierce Johnson (doesn't look good so far)
Dan Vogelbach (.860 OPS in AAA this season)
Victor Caratini (He'd be a starter on 15 teams in the league right now...)
Jeimer Candelario (He should be finding himself starting on an MLB team next week)
Eloy Jimenez (Vlad Guerrero)
Jen-Ho Tseng (10-3 with a 2.71 ERA between AA and AAA this season. Amazing secondaries)
Gleyber Torres (Manny Machado)
Christian Villanueva (.938 OPS in AAA this season)
Paul Blackburn (3.00 ERA over 100 innings between AAA and MLB this season)
and some other guys that don't matter.

White Sox system is strong, no doubt, but Eloy and Torres weren't even Top 10 prospects on that 2014 list.

Facts are facts.

The only reason you can make your statement without debate is because the Sox are all potential right now. However, the objective fact is that no team has ever had 10 prospects in the top 70.

I don't say that because I have hope that any of them will be better than the guys we traded. I say that because people who are paid to judge have made their decisions on the subject

Interesting...where is your cut-off?

Russell played 61 games in the Cubs minor league system and was in the system for 289 days. Moncada played 80 and was in the system for 225 days.

If this is the angle you are going on, the White Sox farm system is still the single worst farm system in the league.

It's not okay?

If he fails, what are you going to do about it?
Boycott the team? Hang Hahn in effigy? Make another 57,000 meaningless posts here? Live your life just to troll Cub threads?
For Pete's sake, it's merely baseball. Go have a little breakfast and relax!
I think you can stop with the meaningless posts thing when I can't even remember a post you made in the past year that wasn't attacking Frank.

I love that little Batman and Robin thing that you and your little Flapjacks boy have got going.
Does he really need you to constantly come to his aid and defense?
Subtract Frankie's intelligent posts where he calls people "Fucking idiot" or "Fucking imbecile" and you have
a list smaller than a short stack at IHOP.

Revisiting the 2011 list of best-ever farm systems

Here is the list of best farm systems, as rated by Baseball America, from our 2011 baseball section, which I updated to reflect playoff success. I also left the original notes on some of the teams.

1. 2011 Royals (574 points)

Significant names: Eric Hosmer (8), Mike Moustakas (9), Wil Myers (10), John Lamb (18), Mike Montgomery (19), Christian Colon (51), Danny Duffy (68), Jake Odorizzi (69), Chris Dwyer (83).

2. 2006 Diamondbacks (541 points)

Significant names: Justin Upton (2), Stephen Drew (5), Conor Jackson (17), Carlos Quentin (20), Chris Young (23), Carlos Gonzalez (32).

Playoff success: Lost 2007 NLCS, lost 2011 NLDS.

Royals worked out. Good sign.

It makes sense that they would be able to accumulate this type of list. I can't come up with a team trading away a Sale, Eaton and Quintana in the span of 8 months. Any of the other prospect teams you are comparing would have accumulated them over a number of years trades and draft picks. As new talent comes up, other players graduate. They weren't table to flip the switch into a fire sale like this.

The sad part for the org is of their top 10 prospects, only #9 and #10 were drafted by the Sox, and that was from last years draft. This is with having picks 17, 3, 8, 10, 26, and 11 over the past 5 drafts. They did convert pick 17 into Anderson and pick 3 into Rodon, but I'm not sure you would declare either of them successful yet.

Now that the trade spigot has largely run dry, they will have to develop drafted talent to maintain it.

No one but you has undertaken the mundane task.

You are one of those people that is highly reliant on the views of "independent" minor league analysts. Do you doubt them now?

does it matter if they draft or trade for prospects? if it works out, does it matter? trading for young players certainly helped the cubs build this team

It matters in the sense if they can't generate talent through the draft, then they HAVE to create another Sale, Quintana, or Eaton to infuse more talent into the system. If their end goal is winning, its hard to maintain future players if you are trading away your top players.

It is the White Sox fan character to be pessimistic.

I'm fine with that. I'd say pretty much any player you trade for and makes it to your big league team for good in the next calendar year shouldn't be viewed the same as other guys.

Moncada sucks anyways.
