Scariest movie ever to me. I was at an age where slasher films were just meh but I had never considered this level of obsession/crazy

He's having a terrible season, but this seems like a pretty nice return for Dan Jennings.

So you must be frightened by the JDC thread then.

I posted this in the trades thread. Maybe it is better here...

According to Spiegs this guy was the Ray's #5 prospect and thought to start at first this year. He was blocked though by the performance of the present guy.

why has Hahn not targeted the middle of the defense with these trades? We have corner IF and OF coming out of our ass. The strength of a team is up the middle.

I guess if he's ready to go, there's nowhere for him to play on this team....

I think they are just taking the best they can get from each trade. They werent going to do better than Rutherford for Kahnle, Polo and Clarkin for Frazier and Robertson, Gillaspie for Jennings nor Cordell for Swarzak.

He's exploiting a market inefficiency.

down year in every aspect of his game but he was top 100 to start the year

Big power and OBP guy before this year. He kind of sounds like Rizzo after he was sent down.

Well, I do think you can see a Hahn type emerging through these trades and draft. He likes big power guys with good OBP. He doesn't care about strikeouts. He doesn't care about athleticism. He doesn't care about defense. A return to the days of a group of guys who look like softball players. Maybe that will win Elmhurst Steve to our fan base.

But otoh Hahn has spent a lot in resources to get Robert, Jimenez and Rutherford in the last two months. I just think he's stockpiling assets.

He's definitely targeting guys with higher floors and lower ceilings. Can't say I agree with that philosophy but I hope it works out for him.

In my experience, younger brothers named Casey aren't nearly as good.

Casey Affleck ruined Good Will Hunting

I'm not sure they really got anything with this Gillaspie

makes sense with a sale trade.

though why not get risky with swarzak, jennings, etc. grab a dsl or rookie ball teenager who might surprise.

seems like hahn wants rebuild over by next year.

He had a track record of success to start his minor league career, including his first exposure to AAA last year. He entered the season as #74 on BA list and a recent first round pick. It's a great return for Jennings, who did not fit into the Sox long term plans. He's on the DL with a broken toe now (fouled off a pitch), but I'm interested to see how he bounces back next year. He can regain form in Charlotte next season. With Abreu at 1B, no need to rush him - let him prove this year is his fluke off year. I believe a very low BABIP this season, too.

And it's not like he's striking out a lot. Players have bad halves and guys get discouraged when they've been in the minors four years and are repeating a level they dominated the year before.

Gillaspie will get a shot at the bigs this year after he gets off the DL, probably playing 1b while Abreu DH's on a post-Melky roster. The only guy really pressing him will be Delmonico, who can play LF and platoon with Davidson at 3rd. Sheets and Collins are a ways away.

Now trade Miguel Gonzalez for the brother of IMU's favorite player Brett Jackson and we will be rolling

No way! Really? As much as that film relies on cliche, and as much as I hate film, it still does it for me.

Wasn't it Kevin Smith who helped doctor the script, and then personally handed it to Harvey Weinstein when it was initially rejected by a preliminary script reader?

So refreshing to see a GM rebuild without tanking.
