Stop. It's not obscene, Kopech is not getting shelled, and you aren't sleeping with any board member's wife. Its time for you to check out of this thread for a while, champ.

It's okay, it's ..what's Sale for his career? 6~1 ?

Now you're comparing him to Chris Sale's career? Umm....ok

Sale didn't have much of a minor league career but at age 21 his ratio was 3.17 in 10.1 innings then 3.20 in 23.1 innings with the big club. His first full season at age 22 was 2.93 in 71 innings. Certainly not crazy better for age relative years.

He was the best pitcher in AA last year. And the consensus best pitching prospect in baseball this year. Yet the true stat is number of walks first month of starts in AAA. Clearly everyone else is wrong about Kopech, because knowledge of this stat hasn’t spread.

I agree with you that he is not getting shelled and that Kopech is fine, but you do have to admit that # of walks in 40 innings is a pretty big number. Maybe not obscene, but a concern at the very least.

I dont know what is up with the 312 vs Frank thing but I pointed it out because Frank seemed to indicate 19 walks in 40 innings is a LOW number

"walking just 19 over 40.1 innings"

19 walks isn't good, but it's not an "obscene amount" either. A 2.7 K/BB ratio is pretty good.

The ratio is fine. The walks by themselves are too many.

It's on Tyler Chatwood's level of walks (which is bad)

And that is probably why he is in AAA rather than MLB right now, which is the correct spot for him to be for a while longer IMO.

He belongs in front of the camera. So much charisma. He's on some reality show, right?

Kopech is not Sale. He will never be Sale. He isn't a lefty whose slider comes out of right field. What he is is a top prospect who needs a changeup. When he gets it he'll be up. It's nice he throws 100 but in the grand scheme it's nicer to have 3 effective pitches. The smart move is to let him develop that 3rd pitch and have confidence in it. There's no rush

well the only rush would be to get some use out of him before the arm blows up. but since the Sox don't try to win games, that doesn't really matter either.

Maybe a change of scenery will help him. I kind of think that Cooper gave up on him last year. HIs stuff is very good and I wish him luck. He just never learned to trust his stuff.

He will get chances to pitch in blowouts without any pressure. If he can pitch a 35 pitch, 7 batter outing once a series, maybe he can build some momentum.

He can't get his stuff over the plate. Pure and simple. When he lets up in exchange for control, he gets LIT up. I had Fulmer as a bust the second I saw him. No one bothered to tell him to keep his eyes level on delivery? Not until professional ball? That is almost criminal.

He got every chance imaginable and still couldn't figure it out. That doesn't happen if he got selected in the 5th round.

No it doesn't. I just hope that Kopech doesn't end up on the scrap heap also.

He'll be fine. We do know that you can't depend on him in a big game. Learning those things early is helpful.

Fulmer had chance after chance here. Outside of 1 start against the Giants back in like 2015, it didn't matter if he started the game or came out of the bullpen he generally sucked.

Best of luck to him in Detroit, but he needs to look himself in the mirror before he starts pointing fingers at a pitching coach.
