Biggest problem I can see with not calling him up is there will be a substantially different CBA agreement by the time he hits free agency. Now that aged veterans are being phased out and young players are being cycled through on the cheap, I'd expect them to have a greater say in earlier free agency/arbitration.

He should have been called up last year. Nobody expects the 6 yr(7th year loophole)service time to be re-agreed upon. I think also by not doing it, any chance of him signing a long term contract also went up in smoke.
