Dave Duncan has now joined the Sox as a consulting pitching coach They now have two of the best in the game to work with these young and talented arms. I'm really happy to see the Sox investing in the infrastructure to maximize prospect potential |

This is actually a big deal. Cooper pretty famously doesn't give a shit about anyone other than the 12 or 13 guys he has on the big league roster. Part of that is just him talking, because there is a solid churn of 5 or so other players who come up and down over the course of a season, but the glee with which he announces his ambivalence regarding prospects is genuine. So adding someone like Duncan to handle bringing pitchers up from Kanny/W-S all the way to the bigs is important. As a consultant he wont have to concern himself with 162 big league games the way Cooper does. There will a big degree of detachment from the day-to-day big league roster, which could be beneficial as the Sox are known to occasionally lose sight of the big picture and trade please-god-hopefully-not-future-Miguel-Cabrera for the corpse of James Shields. |

Coop is a hasbeen, Duncan is 73 years old..I'd take Bosio over both of em. I would have canned Cooper and grabbed Bosio after the Cubs let him go. |
