and Eloy is a m o n s t e r who has none of the weird strikeout problems Soler exhibited. Soler is also kind of retarded with rage issues whereas Eloy seems to enjoy being good at baseball.

Well, we'll see some of those guys June 1st, it seems, but I hope they know how to win games. This team doesn't seem to know how to win. Yeah, I know they have an eighth-grade bullpen, but everyone else makes mistakes at the worst times. And I hate to say it, but Timmy's errors are killing the scant pitching momentum the Sox throwers manage to get rolling.

He needs a lot of Tom Emanski

And Fred McGriff's hat?

What?

His bat is intriguing enough that even as a DH/1B prospect he has a good profile. Though if he can play catcher even situationally at a slightly below-average level his value skyrockets.

Seby Zavala and him could form a pretty nice platoon if they could defend.

They could have been a decent team this year had they made an effort in free agency (Moustakas would be awesome to have), done a little more with the pen and started the year with Kopech and Eloy on the big league roster.

That's on Hahn and Kenny and their dumb little "vision" that includes a bunch of losing. I dont fault Hostetler for that shit, and I think Hostetler is maybe the most competent person in their front office and someone who may start getting offers soon. Hopefully Jerry stays alive a while longer and keeps him part of the family though. He's very good at drafting. Not even about knowing who to pick, though I think he's good at that too, just knowing where a draft will go and how the psychology of that works.

Nick Hostetler is not very respected around the game. He was an area scout for 10 years. Do you know how many big leaguers he drafted? Zero

For a little perspective our guy in the same area for roughly the same amount of time drafted 6 big leaguers (including one if the best left handed pitchers in baseball) and has 2 more knocking on the door.

Only the White Sox would put a guy who can’t find big leaguers in charge of a department whose main responsibility is to find big leaguers.

Anderson and it seems almost certainly Collins will be contributing big leaguers. I really like Burdi and when he comes back you will too.

Fulmer and Burger were whiffs. Burger largely because he was off the charts retarded. Rodon wound up being a little dead-on-arrival and underwhelming but overall he wasn't really a bust as far as baseball goes. He made it to the majors and had some good runs.

Overall they've done fine drafting in the first round. They are not stupid. They do not try to be the smartest guys in the room. They dont draft all out duds either, they get these guys to the majors which is a lot more than you can say for most other franchises. Even the Dodgers, one of those teams everyone wants to be, have only really gotten Walker Buehler in the first round the last five years (Will Smith is OK too).

Anderson is at best Tony Graffanino on a championship team. He cannot play defense. You cannot build a championship caliber team with a butcher at SS.

They've missed more than they've hit in the first round. That leaves a lot to be desired for an organization that's going to rely on their farm system....and they should rely on the farm.

I wish I could share your optimism.

The drafting department gets the heat(much of it deserved) but played the player development group sucks as well. Rodon was a "can't miss" guy that they ruined. How the fuck in your right mind do you skip a guy out of AA? Arguably the most important developmental spot in the minors. That's unfathomable. He should have spent more time in the minors, specifically working on a better 3rd pitch.

Despite his terrible fielding percentage his range factor per 9 is over 4. It's kept his dWAR in the positive range. He's saved some runs, he's cost us some runs. A little more patience is called for here, and why not? We have nothing but time

Jake Burger big clutch hit in late innings to get the Marlins into the playoffs.

Marlins probably thanking the baseball gods that the whitesox were so stupid to decline their offer to trade for Eloy and gave them Burger instead.

Whitesox decided to keep that lazy bum - unreal.

Yeah. America was really dispensing the bad takes in this thread. Although Pittmike looks like he's trying to make up for lost time.
