There's usually great defensive plays to save the no hitter. We had 3 today.

Crede - He dived towords the line and guns out a sliding Harriston with a Konerko pick. Harriston would have been safe had he ran through.

Dye - I'm pretty sure he brought back a homer. He was able to get there in plenty of time so in wasn't that remarkable but still a nice play.

Uribe - Calm and cool Uribe. Back hands a ball after Crede missed it on a dive. A casual rifle throw to Konerko who had another nice pick.

Konerko had a great defensive game last night. Crede's play to end the game wasn't as easy as Crede made it look either.

Now hopefully the pitchers get all competitive like they did in the ALCS and we see 4 no hitters in a row.

So that proves it's no jinx.

Even those who claim "jinx" really don't believe it (unless they're under the age of 11).

Burls should send a gift to the idiot Hairston for sliding into 1st base and barely being thrown out by one of the Crede gems.

I don't what is worse for me...big leaguers not being able to bunt or that most of the faster players think sliding through the dirt gets you to a base faster than running. Managers need to impose some "Major League" rules. If you pop up a bunt to the catcher..that's 15 push-ups right there at the plate.

Baseball Tonight reported this unique nugget on the Sox no hitter.

There have been over 180,000 games in MLB history. The Sox vs Rangers 4-18-07 game was the only one ever that featured all of these in one game.

- A no hitter (Buhrle)

- A player hitting a grand slam (Dye)

- A player hitting two home runs (Thome)

For whatever the hell that's worth.

beardown, i usually like your posts and am in agreement with you, but that's been reported everywhere. the only reason i say this is that i don't want espn getting credit for anything, ever.

it doesn't get a guy to the base faster, but the idea is that it messes with the umpire's perception of timing. on extremely close plays, i'm for it more often than i'm against it, and hairston -- though deficient in almost every other area of the game -- is usually pretty good at the head-first slide.

10 Years ago today, Mark Buehrle faced the minimum while throwing a no hitter against the Texas Rangers.

I still have my ticket stub to this game. Walked Sosa on a few questionable calls. And picked him off 1B.

In last Friday's game Heyward actually used a good slide into first. Not that it got him there quicker, but the way the play was setting up he didn't know if the pitcher was going to have the ball and swipe a tag at him.
