Yolmer, but he's playing 3rd now and, honestly, at SS he's not much better than Anderson.
Leury, but he's hurt and hasn't played SS reguarly since 2015 (at Charlotte)
Danny Mendick and Eddy Alvarez are your starting SS in Bham and Charlotte, respectively.

So there's no other options right now. Might as well throw Anderson out there and see if reps improve him. Anyone who wants to try and trade for a major league quality SS who can play defense to improve things in this lost season is certifiably insane.

The team essentially has three more full seasons before they need to make any conclusions about Anderson

Nah. I think that we have seen enough of Anderson at short-stop to try him at another position, namely center field. Why waste time with Anderson. Move another kid into the position and put Anderson in center field in the minors for at least a month or six weeks and see how he does there. IF he shows promise, then let him play winter ball in center field and spring training next year.

Yolmer is a very nice player to have, but it would be ideal if he was not getting so many at bats.

So you can't fill out the starting roster and at least a few bullpen spots with some combo of Rodon, Dunning, Cease, Stephens, Hansen, Vierra, Bummer, Jones, Fulmer, and Burdi? Plus a ton of cash to grab an RP or 2.

I'll ask again. Who is a guy you have seen as rough as Anderson who improved to be what you would call even adequate at short? I'm not saying it's never happened but it sure doesn't happen much and it's unlikely to happen with Anderson. But his improvement with the strikezone has been miraculous, so that's something.

Former White Sox prospect Marcus Semien looked hopeless at SS and has actually become rather good defensively in Oakland. Not just average, like he is a really good defender at SS.
Xander Bogearts had a year where he literally could not play the position. It was terrible, but I think everyone figured he'd climb out of that rut.

Anderson is a lot better of an athlete than Semien, and man I think you remember how ugly Semien looked at times. Anderson has trouble with the easy ones sometimes but at least he's got range, Semien was just hopeless.

Bogaerts is bad defensively and has negative dWAR every season. Semien was never as bad as advertised but is still a very average shortstop which is what he's always been. You just don't see middle infielders make drastic defensive improvement.

The numbers don't support that.

The numbers don't support that.

Do you remember the ball literally careening off his glove and him diving at nothing in the year before the Samardzija trade? The dude was a complete butcher.

Those same numbers you'd use to say Marcus Semien has not changed revolutionized his defensive abilities also say Tim Anderson plays an average to above-average SS.

Know it doesn't mean shit today, but Bleacher Report gave Sox an +A for the draft (tied for highest grade with Tampa) and MLB Dish gave them an +A. Experts seem to like the draft, hopefully they hit on a couple. Lot of love for third round pick Pilkington.

When you get the best player at 4th overall its a good sign. Their 3rd round pick looks promising. Steele Walker will have a lot of work to do to stand out among the group of outfielders the Sox have in the minors, but we'll see.

The Midget went 1-4. Larnach and the soph C Rutschman went yard and the child molester threw the hell out of it. The midget might be the 4th best player on his college team.

Enduring years of this Madrigal hate because they didn't draft a shitty Florida pitcher who can't strike out NCAA hitters or throw it over 95mph is gonna wear me out.

There’s not gonna be much hate going forward. He’s gonna hit.

The midget is 0-2 K, GO-6. He did make a really nice diving play to his right.

your boy Brady Singer looked like steaming shit the entire CWS. Madrigal could strike out swinging every AB the rest of the way and it wouldn't be as alarming as Singer's collapse.
