Yes, last year they had the Sox winning 83 games and they only won 35. Pathetic.

My Under 83 wins bet paid off great though.

What is the deal with Jonathan Stiever, and what are their plans for him?

 sorry Hawger.

I imagine he starts the season in Charlotte. Maybe comes up for a spot start.

Thanks Speeps, so they are keeping him as a starter, I thought he might come out of the pen in long relief maybe.

That might be what they do eventually. I think they'll keep him as a starter for now.

He is a right handed pitcher in the White Sox organization. The plan is to have him continue to pitch right handed.

He's also behind a bunch of other guys in terms of both expectations and projections. Kopech, Cease, Lopez, and Rodon for this year. Crochet and others going forward.

That's a good problem.

Unfortunately, the path is most likely to clear itself out with Lopez and Rodon.

No doubt. Rodon will make three appearances in relief before getting hurt and fatter, and Lopez will throw a three-hitter followed by four starts in which he is unable to get out of the second inning. These two guys are time bombs.

Agree. As I said elsewhere, Rodon is done. I don't even know why the Sox brought him back.

Lopez I have zero confidence in, but I've seen enough guys figure it out after a while in MLB that it wouldn't shock me if he were to become somewhat of a dependable back end of the rotation guy.

Shit. Hopefully its a mild case and doesn't screw him up for weeks like it did with Moncada last year.

Well, he caught Rizzo a few years ago. Lapped him a few times since.

You don't think they're going to try and screw with his service time and leave him down for a couple of weeks? I expect someone like Gavin Sheets or some piece of triple A detritus.

No. MLBPA is done with that shit. And if any GM doesn't know it, they're retawded.

Then the MLBPA better get that changed quick in the soon to be negotiations, teams have zero reason not to do it.

Vaughn hasn't played above A ball yet. It's logical and justifiable for him to not start the year in MLB.

Sounds like you’re not sure his dominance against the taxi squad in Schaumburg will translate on day 1.

of course not. I only wrote Day 1 starter as a response to Abreu having the rona

I think the people who believe a rookie who hasn't played above A will step in as a middle of the order hitter on a playoff team are going to be disappointed.

I would bet that, as a guy who played TE in the SEC, Thomas had above average speed at the beginning.
