The more the 670 crowd hates this move, the more I love it. Fuck them. They are against the Tony LaRussa hire as well for all of the wrong reasons. TLR is probably going to be the reason we get Lynn to sign and extension here anyways and brought in a prime coaching staff that will help this team get to the next level.

Tony LaRussa, Lance Lynn, Adam Eaton. This should all feel familiar to White Sox fans.

But it is not what the GM wanted. Hope it works out.

I don't care about the clubhouse stuff. Who even knows what's true. Same thing about players "liking" LaRussa. Who cares? Play ball.

My beef is that he appears to be in decline, gets injured often, and stops them from getting a better player or seeing if Engel could be that guy. And it seems like a typical Jerry/Kenny move- go cheap and hope to get lucky.

They weren't getting Springer for both internal and external reasons.

Everyone else was going to be a player with some warts.

I actually think this is great for Engel. He becomes the LHP side of a platoon, expanding his role from last year. He has hit .313 and .303 in consecutive years against LHP. He also hit well against RHP last year but it was the first year for it and in limited action. Maybe he continues his development and grabs the full time roll for 2022.

What are the reasons they weren't getting Springer? And I like Brantley better anyway. I don't consider this a big move. It's just typical of the Sox.

Externally, it was my understanding he told his suitors he wanted to play CF, which he would never do with the Sox. Internally, I don't think the Sox could win a bidding war with the new Mets management.

Brantley isn't very good in the field any more and he has played almost no games in RF in his career. Also, I really like his bat and maybe they can get him as a DH but he isn't some big power hitter either.

Okay, let's forget about Springer. They wanted a lefty. Brantley is a strong lefthanded bat. The Sox have plenty of power already. Brantley should get his 15-20. And in an era when there are so many Ks I'm not too concerned about defense on the outfield corners.
