Jay Jaffe gave Pierzynski his own write up in his yearly Hall of Fame series. Everyone here knows most of this, but if you're looking for the whole story in one place, here it is:

Handled a pitching staff and didn't embarrass himself at the plate. His fun+ metric was 126.

Excellent share. I remember during the first few weeks of the season, Hawk would go out of his way to rip on the Giants, who were ripping on AJ. I was a little shocked when they signed him, since AJ's press on the Giants was so bad.

Funny comment after the article:

AJ has my favorite exchange with an umpire that has led to an ejection.

On June 4, 2014, Pierzynski was ejected by umpire Quinn Wolcott after a leadoff walk by pitcher Brandon Workman because he asked Wolcott to “give me a new ball. One you can see.”

You can’t teach that, it’s a textbook example of intangibles in a player.
