but two weeks ago it was

there are ebbs and flows to a season

I assume they'll be fine by 162 and hopefully playing their best baseball. Who knows?

What I do know is the bullpen is thin. No second basemen. Average defense. And one can make a legit argument they don't have a number one starter

The pitching is very concerning. Maybe it’ll look different when Lynn is back but right now it barely looks like a representative MLB rotation.

The rotation hasn’t been the problem. Everything else has. Tim Anderson has been an undisciplined loud mouth. He started the year suspended. Committed a year worth of errors in two weeks. Then got suspended again. Great leadership.

The pitching, particularly the bullpen, is the only reason they have as many wins as they do. In Detroit they put up some runs.

Two wins against Seattle; 3 runs, 4IP by Velazquez. 6 runs, 5IP by Kuechel
Two wins against Tampa; 3 runs, 5.2 IP by Cease. 3 runs, 5IP by Kopech

Hendriks gave up the game winner, but the biggest problem yesterday was Bummer. Leadoff walk to the 9 hitter- who is 0fer on the season and has now two walks- then give up a bomb. Routinely Bummer comes in and gives up a hit or a walk to the first guy he faces.

Bummer being off this year has really screwed them. He seems to have fallen off a cliff

Cease, Kopech and Giolito have all been good. It's the scrubs that are killing us and that was/should have been foreseeable by Hahn. Lynn will help and it would be great if they could insert Lopez but he's been really good in his role and they are short in the bp until Kelly returns. Maybe Cueto is ok as a #5 and then they can do whatever they need to with Vazquez and Keuchel.

Cueto is going to get shelled badly, think Dunkirk in 1940.

I am afraid so as well

Did Dunkirk get shelled badly? Most people escaped and the town still stands.

General James Longstreet also had a raggedy arm. Coincidence? I'd bet the house those two have never been in the same room.
