They discussed TLR’s belief in the second lead off man concept vis-à-vis Vaughn on last night’s broadcast. They highlighted he seemingly viewed it as more valuable in the AL where they’re the only league with the DH (aside from the NL of course).

The team leaders Anderson and Abreu have been terrible defensively. Abrue hasn’t hit either. Neither have 4 other guys in the lineup. Getting late to call it a slump.

Most of the time, this is the case. There are a couple 2-3 every year that add a few wins and take away a few wins. The manager is supposed to put his club in the best position to win and put his players in the best position to succeed. There have been at least four or five instances this year where TLR has not done this.

To gd's point above with Lucas, the players need to execute. Make no bones about that. But you can't fire Giolito or Grandal.

They scored something like 25 runs during that 7 game streak.

All things considered, their pitching has been absolutely terrific which gives me a tiny fraction of reason to hold out hope for this team. But this is not a Championship offense and I wouldn't argue against it if somebody said they are not MLB level defense (Robert and McGuire notwithstanding).

Starting pitching is fine. Bullpen is a shit show, which I said it would be in spring training.

KC pitcher is 0-3, 9+ ERA, 15 BB in 26 innings. If the Sox can't hang 5 or 6 on this guy, forget it.

Even if they start hitting/scoring, it's hard to see them winning anything meaningful in October. Whether it's official errors, or missed opportunities, they give teams 30+ outs every game.
