Maybe. He's already made $24mil and with the options the Sox will almost assuredly pick up, that's another $26.5 million. $50mil+ by the time he's 32 with still time to get another deal. He should be fine.

Until 2019, he nor anybody else knew if he was going to make it in this league. His breakout year was last year. That's when a regret may have set in. Now he has only 3 years to play out. With his final year not chump change. I suppose you could say JR fucked him for 3-4 years, but I wouldn't look at it that way.
