The White Sox are calling up Double-A infield prospect Lenyn Sosa Thursday, a source confirmed.

Sosa, 22, has blossomed this season, posting a .331/.384/.549 hitting line with 14 home runs and 48 RBI over 289 plate appearances. He has a 13.8% strikeout rate.

Sosa has played shortstop, third base and second base in the Sox farm system. 236 of his 308 career minor league games have been at Shortstop. Infielder Danny Mendick injured his right knee in a collision with left fielder Adam Haseley in the Sox’ 9-5 loss to the Blue Jays Wednesday.

Sosa played 35 games at shortstop, 12 at third base and nine at second base for Birmingham, committing two errors.

Sosa signed with the Sox out of Venezuela in 2016. He batted .290/.321/.443 with 10 homers at High-A Winston-Salem last season, earning a promotion to Birmingham, where he batted .214/.240/.282 in 35 games.

The Sox will announce a corresponding roster move before the team opens a four-game home stand against the Orioles Thursday night at Guaranteed Rate Field. Sosa is currently not on the 40-man roster.

Let's give it a little more time Frank.

I've been a Hahn supporter for a while, I am on the bandwagon of making a sweeping change after this season. Unless the owners croaks, that probably is not going to do anything.

I'm not expecting Hahn fired mid season, but he should go if they don't make these bloated playoffs. Cease and Kopech have pitched as well as you can expect. They have the past 3 or 4 weeks have gotten great numbers from Mendick, Abreu, and Pollock. They still are a game under. He needs to go if they don't at least make the playoffs. We are in Collins/Jackson territory. The moves the past two years have largely flopped.

I'm sure Harrison will mentor him, so if Sosa gets red hot Harrison will lose his job.

Can they put him right on the IL? He will likely pull a hammy getting on the plane.

Kenny has to go either with or before Hahn.

I was a Hahn supporter as well, but they need to develop better through the draft. What is at Charlotte the last couple of years is pathetic. Hahn also needed to get a better grip on the health and fitness part of the staff.

Burger, Sheets, and Vaughn all made significant contributions last year that definitely weren't pathetic. Also, very few teams can sustain injuries to their significant players year after year and have those guys capably replaced by AAA players. The only teams that seem to do that year in and year out are St. Louis and Tampa.

Agreed. I'm fine if both go, but really....Uncle Jerry needs to be the one that leaves and the team sells for any type of noticeable cultural / organizational change.

Still mired in mediocrity...hmmm....only one constant
