You're a better man than I. At least it ended up being a nice afternoon to sit outside and have a couple of beers.

Rick Hahn handcuffed a manager he didn't want with a bunch of pieces that don't fit. It's still early, but the last few days suck.

Still early? Not really. Even if this team lucks into making the playoffs, they are light years away from Houston and NY. Hahn needs to not pull a "Theo" and break this team up next off-season.

To do another 5 year rebuild? Fuck that.

No rebuild. Trade for major league talent. Deal Giolito before his walk year, deal one of Eloy, Moncada, or Vaughn. Standing pat is not an option when you're hitting year four of the window without a World Series win. This team is not winning with this group.

How about just playing a clean game once in a while. I don't hate this team because of the talent. I hate them because they think competitiveness is a casual endeavor.

The Cease game is the game I had pegged the Sox to win in this series.

This is an embarrasing team.

Fucking Orioles are laughing their asses off.

By the way, where is poster orioleboy???

The Sox have a lot of young players who are still developing. There's no need to pull the plug.

I am calling bullshit. Outside of the 2021 1st and 2nd round picks, I don't really see a viable prospect outside of Colas in the system, and that might be a stretch. Ceaspedas is gonna be a 4A player. I literally see 0 pitching prospects in the pipeline either.

I'm primarily talking about the guys who are already in the majors or are injured.

Those guys aren't all that young. Moncada appears to be a bust. Robert & Eloy can't stay healthy. Giolito is regressing. Renteria may have completely destroyed Crochet.

Of their "big" free agent signings; outside of 6 weeks last season, Grandal has sucked. Keuchel was DFA'd. Lynn was not 100% for the playoffs and missed a chunk of time this year. Graveman can't throw two days in a row for some unearthly reason. Joe Kelly has faced like 9 batters this season. Hendriks has been very good overall.

Anderson has been great. Vaughn seems like he could be really good. Kopech overall has done alright. Cease might be the only pitcher that actually pans out.

This was supposed to be a World Series team, and they may miss the playoffs entirely. I don't want to hear about injuries. They managed to win 93 games last season with guys like Jay Clam and Brian Goodwin getting a lot of playing time. It's time for these guys to step up or step aside. No more excuses, Nas.

It's been a bad year but take this snapshot as indicative of the longer arc. Each of these players has put up some impressive numbers at times in their careers. They are all just either hurt or down at the same time.

Or, outside of Vaughn and Cease, they have all had their career years and will never put up numbers like that for an extended stretch.

Hurt, down, sad, grumpy, I really don't care. This was supposed to be a World Series contender, and they're not even close.

I'm with you right now. There's an expiration date on this. The Cubs were saying this for 4 years.

Do you no longer believe Robert will be an MVP? Cease has the best stuff on the team, but he can be Giolito like against good teams. Kopech is the future ace.

Edit: With a healthy Lynn, Kopech and Cease, I like the Sox chances against anyone in the playoffs going forward. You can quote me on this.

I don't question Robert having the talent to win an MVP. I question if he can stay healthy enough for a full season to warrant serious MVP consideration. Cease has owned the Tigers, but I would still trust giving the ball to him over Giolito. I'd even trust him more than Lynn right now. Kopech had a clunker the other day but agree he is the guy with perhaps the highest ceiling on the pitching staff. The centerpiece of the Chris Sale trade has been a huge best. Thank God Theo was a dipshit with his lack of pitching development because if Quintana was traded for just Eloy that would have been another bad deal.

Sox head west this week then play 13 of 17 games against Cleveland and Minnesota with the AS break in between. We will know if this team is a legit contender no later than July 24th.

I'd go to war with those three starters as well. Especially in a short series.

The problem right now is that the Sox are five and a half games out of being able to go to war.

Giolito has had three years in a row of being a top 10 Cy Young candidate
Moncada was a more than acceptable starting MLB 3B just last year in 144G
Robert played 56 of 60 games in 20 and is still on pace for 128 this year. The production, obviously, can't be denied

I know there are many others with Eloy being the most frustrating but I think you are just looking at them at the bottom of their market. Moncada is the oldest of the group and he JUST turned 27.

Injury can always derail things and it has been bad this year but I'd still go to war with this group next year, finally adding a LH power bat in RF.
