Today's loss puts them under .700 ball with Cairo. Game 1 with Cleveland tomorrow. Winning 3 of 4 gains 2 games. Play .750 from here on out. 5 of 6 from Detroit, 4 of 6 from Minn, 2 of 3 from SD. Cleveland's top opponents are the White Sox(4), Minn(5), and TB(3). Let's call it 8 losses. There's Texas(3) and KC(6) Let's call it 3 losses.

14-5 beats Cleveland's 10-11.

The White Sox are a WS team. The only guy that's hurt has been replaced more than adequately. Only question is, How we going to match up with the Dodgers or the Braves on Oct 28.

I have no confidence in it happening, but considering the tiebreaker, they really need to win all 4 against Cleveland.

Do that and they basically have a 1/2 game (tiebreaker) lead for the other 15 games. Take 3 of 4, and Sox are 2 1/2 down for the other 15 games.

You're saying 88 wins at minimum wins the division. I'm saying 87 does it. And I'm not ruling out 86.
Today is a one and done situation. It's a play-in game to survive until the next play-in game.

For the Sox to win the division with 87 wins, that means Cleveland has to go 9-12 over their final 21 games. I don't see that happening.

Sox need 88 wins minimum and might need 89.

Cleveland's magic number is 17. That's why I said the Sox cannot afford more than 5 losses over the final 20 games (19 now).

I got them 11-10 to win 87. They are 76-65
