I think we all kinda figured with the schedule and the division, that this team would win the division by default and play .600 ball despite not being a .600 ball team. Well, the weak schedule didn't help and Cleveland is the .600 ball team. .612 to be exact.

I didn't think there were any businesses left in Chicago.

4 back now, and yes they will be killed in the playoffs. That's the point. This was a World Series or bust year. In the past 105 seasons, there has one ONE year in which the Sox have won a postseason series. They tanked and did their #ChangeTheGame stuff to win two measly playoff games so far.

This team doesn't deserve the playoffs. The coaching staff, front office, upper management doesn't deserve the playoffs. JERRY doesn't deserve any extra revenue. The fans most certainly do, and they're the ones getting screwed this season.

Abreu, Anderson, Vaughn, Hendriks, Cease, Cueto. That's it. Those are the only guys that have been worth a damn this season. Everybody else on the roster, coaching staff, and front office can fuck right off.


*Edit- Kopech as well because I believe he has not been 100% but has been trying to gut it out for most of the year.

I don't care nearly as much as I should, or as much as I did last year. Mainly because this team hasn't been in 1st place since April 21st or something. I have genuine contempt for this team. I laughed my ass off in the car as they were blowing that game to Colorado a couple weeks ago. I've openly rooted for them to lose more than once. I don't think that's ever happened before, even during the 90+ loss Ventura years.

After today, Sox have 9 games against teams who have an average win% of .388. (4 @ Oak, 2 vs COL, 3 @ Det). Have go at least 7-2. Even 6-3 isn't going to be enough to catch/pass Cleveland IMO.
After that stretch, they play Cleveland at home which could be a must sweep 3 game series.

So, another proving week/week-and-a-half.

Cleveland is going to own the tiebreakers. Lose today and essentially you're 5 games back. IF Cleveland plays .500, Sox would need to go 10-2 over the next twelve to catch them.

Today is a big game. Then tomorrow becomes a big game. Etc.

I actually agree with most of this. Except Anderson doesn't deserve it. The guy hasn't been that good even when not injured. Maybe he needs to lay off the side pieces and focus more on Baseball and having himself as well prepared each day toexcel as possible. Modern day Jackie Robinson my ass.
