Its a cheap, Jerry hire most likely.

But this guy does embrace analytics and has baseball ops experience. I think both of those are pluses. Would you have rather had Skip Schumaker?

I was fine with Espada or Ozzie. Missouri was the last place I thought we would import a manager from. It takes months to remove that smell.

This in no way fulfills what Hahn said he was looking for, experience in a winning organization

Wow.

"Off" course you are because you're a jackass Cubs fan who wants to take any shots he can at the White Sox.

Grifol has been with the Royals for ten years, so he was there when they played in back to back World Series not that long ago.

If the Sox win the pennant in 2023, win the World Series in 2024, then miss the playoffs 7 years in a row, I'd be OK with that.

At least when the Bears pretend to care about importing winning cultures they hire some assistant strength and training coordinator from a 11-5 team to be the GM (Emery). That's like a nuanced way they can mask them not knowing what they're doing. The Sox are like screw it, we're going with a guy from a team that hasn't made the playoffs in six years. I think I appreciate the Sox's honesty.

Agreed. You have to fire Hahn with this guy if it doesn't work out.

Not sure why you're laughing at something that is true.

I'm not defending this move, praising it, or bashing it. We'll see what happens. Its an outsider, which is something the Sox haven't done with their manager since Jerry Manuel over 20 years ago.

I'm bashing it ONLY because of what Hahn claimed to have wanted and what on the surface looks to either be a diversity hire or some kind of weird Cuban teaching Cubans dynamic. Believe me, I intend to give this guy 100x the chance that I gave LaRussa.

You know exactly why I am laughing. Hahn was clear. He wanted recent experience with a successful organization.

The Royals do not check that box. Go back as far as you want and twist it any way you can, but they do not. When Hahn laid out his desire for this hire no one would have thought of this dude or the Royals. The guy from the Astros, sure. This guy. No.

Now of course it may work out great. They may win multiple rings with him. But this in no way fulfills what Hahn stated was his desire.

I don't trust a fucking word Hahn says any longer. Hahn's desire is to accept and paycheck and operate within the confines of what JERRY lays out. He does not have a desire to put a winning team on the field. If he did, he would have made a managerial change last season and if he was told no, he would have walked away. I'm not going to blame a guy for sticking with a posh job that he might have for life, but IDGAF about what he says to the media because IMO none of is honest.

What you say is true but it hurts him in the long run, whether it's here or elsewhere. He's at this point, a laughingstock, and I don't respect him anymore, even if this KC Royals fella is the greatest thing since condoms. He's not a GM. He's Assistant GM. Simple as that.

It's not a crutch Nas, its the truth. Its very clear JERRY and/or Kenny lays out how the Sox are to operate and what their payroll can be. I don't think who the GM is matters, they have to operate within those constructs.

Rather than walk away and try to be a GM his way, Hahn stays here and accepts a pretty secure job yet has limits on how he can spend and who he can hire. That seems to be just how it is at this point.

Every team lays out its budget. Hahn has constructed shit rosters and signed shit free agents. Not making the call on TLR doesn't absolve him of his shittiness or his clear attempts to sabotage TLR.

If you think Hahn would have rather Leury Garcia, Gavin Sheets, or Nomar Mazar in RF over Bryce Harper, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Every GM would love to have the payroll of the Dodgers. Hahn has brought in a lot of guys that suck. That's on him. It's extremely lazy to blame Uncle Jerry and his balck son for everything that goes wrong and credit Hahn for everything that goes well.

That's true for every team. Harper was overpaid. None of us thought that was a great signing.

Its not a great signing, but he's playing in the World Series right now and the Sox were .500 this season.

I'm not absolving Hahn of anything. But if you think he is a legit GM doing things his way and isn't some mouthpiece for the Sox, you are sorely mistaken.

What about the balck son mush mouthing about the Machado fiasco. Unlike Harper, we were all in on that one.
