I enjoy the “well akshully-ing” of people acting like Robin didn’t lose the thing with Ryan. Was it as bad as it looked for him? Probably not. Did he still look like a punk ass bitch? Absolutely.

They are all great in their own way.

I love the Ventura one because you can visibly see that he regrets the decision as he is making his way to the mound. A genuinely good dude that took a beating for the team.

Maybe because Ventura really beat the fuck out of him at the end of the fight. I get that it's a nice narrative that old ass Nolan Ryan beat up some young punk but that isn't really what happened. Ryan gave him nuggies like he was his little sister and at the end Ventura whacked him in the face pretty hard more than once. And the awesome photo of Ventura choking him out doesn't lie. But whatever. The narrative has been established. One thing for sure. Every major league player- probably even some of Ryan's teammates was pulling for Ventura. Ryan was and is a piece of shit.

I don’t think anything matters once 40 people are jumping on top of you. If robin snuck in a punch as they were both being tackled by their teams, it doesn’t really erase getting the old man headlock/noogie combo.

All those guys weren't helping Ventura. They were trying to tear him off an old man who was desparately trying to avoid getting a beating by using the feminine tactic of a headlock/noogie combination. Once the younger stronger man got loose he choked Ryan to near unconciousness and it took the strength of Bo Jackson to prevent Ryan's imminent death. It's all in the video if you watch beyond the first few seconds.
