I'm pretty sure the NBA fixing the lottery put them in that position.

I won't rip you on Paxson. He was competent. He just morphed into a pile of jello for some reason. But to give him credit for Rose, other than he didn't fuck it up after a fortuitous break, I will rip you for.

Well, one of us thought he should draft the other guy because it would take Rose a couple of years to develop. Fortunately, that guy wasn't GM.

Paxson was a good GM. He had some bad luck with injuries (what GM doesn't?) and the near death of Luol Deng. That said its hard for me to say that anybody in any major sport was "very successful as a GM" when they never made the Final(s)/World Series/Super Bowl, much less won a ring.

Hey, me either. Just looked at the draft to refresh my memory. I thought Eric Gordon was going to be the other killer in that draft. Not a doubt. Absolutely loved that kid.
