I believed that for awhile. In fact ever since he came up. Now, I think that I put him in the same category as the jake, Moncada. I think that both of these guys would be complete different players if they weren't handed millions of dollars while they were still in the islands.

Send down Colas for a 3rd catcher and a pitcher with a 5+ ERA who was DFA'd by the Yankees.

Great moves!

Hopefully this means that they will glue Grandal to the bench like one of those environmental protestors in England who glue themselves to roads and boats.

At least the future, Trayce Thompson, is still on the team......

They've made some front office hires from outside the organization:

Unfortunately, one of those guys came directly from Kansas City.

Well, fortunately, on the surface, two of those guys seem solid. Giants have stayed afloat with pitching, and Diamondbacks actually develop players.

They do, but I wonder about Bannister. This seems to be a lateral move from the Giants to the White Sox. Why would someone do that?

I’ll assume they’re bad until proven otherwise.

Fair, but that makes me wonder about his competence. If the Giants really wanted to keep him, they would pay him enough to keep him from taking an identical job with another organization.

Let's just desperately grasp for a silver lining and call it a day. There's plenty of time down the road to put a curse on them and their entire families.

The Stone pony on H & L says good baseball man Getz had no input into bad scouting just player development. Then 5 minutes later he says the Sox are woeful at minor league player development. First time I turned off a Stone pony Score visit. Even a usually quick witted articulate guy doesn't know what to say about the Sox that will fly.

I’m good with cleaning house because it is needed but the fact that Ethan Katz wasn’t launched Sunday night and even worse that he was allowed to remain a coach longer than others tells me Getz is in over his head. I’m on board with firing Getz now.

I have no idea why Getz is saddling himself with Grifol. It was a perfect time to lose him

Its likely because Grifol was Getz's candidate from the get go, which doesn't bode well for him.

Boston should have been canned years ago, but he was a Kenny schill so its clear why he was able to stick around. I too have no idea why Katz wasn't launched at 5pm on Sunday.

His boss probably told him he couldn't fire Grifol. It's possible that it is Getz, but somebody likes Grifol in that organization. Maybe firing him after one year implies the problem is bigger than getting a new GM. Very strange decision though to back a guy who just had 101 losses and especially when the guy who hired him (Hahn/Williams) are both fired.

Given the history though, Getz also knows he's likely to get a very long time in this role (assuming Reinsdorf stays in control). He may feel that Grifol's current time on the team and knowing the players is more likely to turn things around than bringing in a new manager (even though managers didn't matter prior to TLR being hired) which would fit in with the comments around contending next season.

The 2024 team is going to be a bunch of retreads and over the hill guys (Whit Merrifield to play RF, anyone?) who will sign 1- and 2-year deals with the understanding that if they play well through the first 90 games they will be flipped for prospects.

Given that, why pay two managers? Is Grifol really going to negatively impact 70 games each of Colson Montgomery and Bryan Ramos to really matter?

I know he had largely a shit roster to work with, but it took Grifol almost 4 months to realize the leaders he thought he had weren't the real leaders on the club. There's only one of two ways that can happen. 1) He isn't involved with the guys in the clubhouse at all. He shows up, sits in his office, writes out the lineup, watches the game, goes home, and that's it. 2) He is Caller Bob stupid. There is no third option.

Either way, that is not a guy I even want to be around my ballclub, let alone be manager.

Grifol is latinox Eberflus. Shit results, poorly run locker room, dumb in-game decisions.

Sure, roll him back out there.

Also inexplicably promoted for doing nothing of interest with a middling franchise.

He didn't do any of the things he said he would do. I'm only judging him by his metrics.

How do you measure "accountability"?

By sending a rookie 22 year old outfielder down to the minors on September 12th.

Is that a plus or minus for Grifol? He did hold Colas accountable, albeit the timing is odd and puts his future in doubt.

Holding a rookie accountable at the end of a 101 loss season seems a bit cowardly.

Even more so when the reasons he was supposedly sent down are problems across the entire roster.
