I got there a little after noon. It wasn't exactly Oakland. I thought it was a good crowd for a 40 degree weekday. The result and the ovation for Jason Benetti were my only issues.

I don't have an issue with giving that guy an ovation. Hell his performance yesterday was probably better than any Sox hitter. Benetti did more for Chicago sports than Justin Fields has.

I wasn't a fan. I'm aware MANY of my criticisms were because of my Hawk bias. That said, the way he used his media relationships to shit on Uncle Jerry rubbed me the wrong way. It was absolutely classless. There's unlikely a critic of Uncle Jerry's who wouldn't love being employed by him. He's consistently gone above and beyond for his employees.

This makes for a fine write up in his obituary, but as a fan he has served us nothing but shit sandwiches for the better part of the last 30 years. 40+ with the White Sox. And he forces MANY of us to take seconds.

I'm not sure there has been an owner in sports history who has done less winning with more resources than Jerry Reinsdorf.

I won't rehash it, but I'll never have a negative word to say about Uncle Jerry. I'm a diehard Chicago sports fan because of him. Even when the Cubs tried to snatch my faith in 03-04, Uncle Jerry and his balck son restored it in 2005. I'm indebted to the man. I honestly don't know what I would have used as a diversion for life if I didn't have sports. I would probably have 300 kids and be hustling from a pulpit.

Won't argue with that. And I don't expect anything to change until new ownership comes in.

You can love the man and still be critical of him, Nas. Both at times have been warranted.

I don't think the coaching has been great, but having a better coaching staff would not have materially changed the outcome in 21, 22, or 23. The young position players they acquired during the rebuild are not good enough to win.

I believe launching Katz and TLR midway thru 2022 would have added the 5 or 6 wins the Sox needed to make the playoffs. They probably wouldn't have advanced past the ALDS, but I think they could have made the playoffs with another manager. Miguel Cairo had them go 16-14. They play to that same win% all season, its 86 wins and a wild card spot.

Agree on 2023, but the team may have performed better. They would not have gotten their clocks cleaned 4 times a week. They would have lost a lot of games, but I can deal with a team playing well and not making mistakes while losing 4-3 to a better squad. Last year's Sox played terrible, stupid, unwatchable baseball that you should not see at the professional level. The manager is at least partly responsible for that. Even if he didn't walk anybody on a 1-2 count.

That's a very small sample size on Cairo. Also, if memory serves me correctly, they initially played well under his watch and then crashed hard. If you kept playing his tenure out, I suspect that final record would have looked a lot different.

Yes, but their 2023 Wars were close 5.0 to 4.4. Of course Robert is younger and cheaper, so it is obvious that he is more valuable. Health of both will be the 2024 differentiator.

Robert had great at bats today.

So with the Braves coming in, were looking at 0-6 right?

Why did God give an ability to someone to hit 95MPH pitches but can't tie his own shoes? It blows my mind.

There seems to be a running theme with players from Cuba as being lazy. This might be as simple as not working out and or stretching. At some point, you gotta take a step back and ask yourself, why am I getting hurt all the time...

It’s a long season, but you want to fire the Cubs’ manager after two games?
