If played correctly, the bored could keep this thread to a single page, befitting the interest level in this team.

Well, we have 4 between us now so it’ll be a long putt.

Kopech is the only returning pitcher from the opening day '23 roster from Jesse Rogers.

How about we put all White Sox thoughts in the "Complain About Something" thread? That should be an appropriate place for the vast majority of them.

How can you not be super excited for the season. How many other teams in the MLB history have had their loogy from the year before be their opening day starter. I really hope Reinsdorf keels over while watching the pile of shit he has assembled this year. The best part is that this isn’t even a rebuild, it’s a retool.

This may as well be a complain about section.

Id be a little more optimistic if this club had a different manager. Not playoffs optimistic, but Grifol did almost nothing right last season. Ventura was better.

I’m still more pissed off about Katz staying. How long has he been here and give me one pitcher he has made better. Grifol is just as bad but hasn’t been bad as long. Reinsdorf seems to reward coaches that are bad as long as their salary is low enough.

I don't see how experts are recognizing this as having potential to be one of the worst teams in the history of baseball. There is not a single starter that gives you an advantage over the other team.

Still, my boys have off for easter so I want to go to the game on Saturday. Get a free hoodie and some good times with them.

CF is an advantage against anyone except the Angels and Braves. LF/DH may be an advantage if Eloy is raking. But yeah, not a good roster.

100%. He absolutely should have been launched in the middle of the season last year.

Probably should DH for the catcher and let Crochet hit

I don't think the coaching has been great, but having a better coaching staff would not have materially changed the outcome in 21, 22, or 23. The young position players they acquired during the rebuild are not good enough to win.

It's a good core. Should be able to hit the ground running. And Getz is the guy to get this turned around quickly.

I believe launching Katz and TLR midway thru 2022 would have added the 5 or 6 wins the Sox needed to make the playoffs. They probably wouldn't have advanced past the ALDS, but I think they could have made the playoffs with another manager. Miguel Cairo had them go 16-14. They play to that same win% all season, its 86 wins and a wild card spot.

Agree on 2023, but the team may have performed better. They would not have gotten their clocks cleaned 4 times a week. They would have lost a lot of games, but I can deal with a team playing well and not making mistakes while losing 4-3 to a better squad. Last year's Sox played terrible, stupid, unwatchable baseball that you should not see at the professional level. The manager is at least partly responsible for that. Even if he didn't walk anybody on a 1-2 count.

Today's lineup is another example of why Grifol sucks. He's playing the matchup with a lefty starter so he has Pillar in the lineup. Dom Fletcher made the team with a good spring. Let him play and find out if he's your RF/OF of the future. I would rather him play and struggle while learning than another stopgap shitty veteran out there.

Game recognizes game.

I think the story is his dad is originally from Chicago. I'll accept anyone as a brother who cheers for the Sox with sincerity.

I’ve looked into the future and can confirm something called Dom Fletcher is not part of it.

Maybe. But there is still a small chance he becomes something. Kevin freakin Pillar may not be on this team come June.

Pillar is part of the core and he's going to hit the ground running.

And then fall into the ground.
