Alex Jones has ruled, and it’s been decided that Jerry Reinsdorf is killing everything & everyone.

Rozner argued many times that the reason attendance at baseball games was down was because of the cost to go and had nothing to do with the length of a game. He said, why would someone be upset about getting more baseball? Well, pitchers walking around the mound and Nomar adjusting his batting gloves is not exactly more baseball. But anyways, if his theory were true, that place would have been packed yesterday because they were offering sub-$5 tickets. In contrast, even in places with really expensive tickets like Wrigley and Fenway, they routinely pack the house.

Quality is a part of the value equation. Not just price.

I think it is a combination of both quality, pricing and your image. Reinsdorf lost the buzz from 2005 and replaced it with 2005 losses if you combine his overall record from the Bulls/Sox games.

No one wants to support a team that isn't committed to winning. If Reinsdorf sold the team and the new owner took the same path as Rickett's did then the place would be packed. Fans would be proud of their team again and HOPE would re-create the buzz that was here in 2005.

Reinsdorf has lost all his fan support from both franchises and it shows. Until he sells or dies it will only get worse.

The Cubs went 100+ years without winning, and Wrigley was treated as some sort of shrine. WYC?

At $10 for a seat in the 100s, I probably would have gone if I still lived in Illinois and if they threw in free parking in Lot B.

For triple-A Durham, which has historically been a very successful team but currently has no pitching because the Rays broke everybody's elbows and shoulders, I pay $300/year for two 6th row tickets to 9 Thursday night games and garage parking. I'd pay a little more for the White Sox because they have better food. But not much more.

That was all post 1984. Prior to that, the upper deck was closed for many weekday games. 85 percent of the world work, the rest go out and boo the Cubs.

Wrigley Field attendance from 1953 until 1969 was under the league average. Attendance skyrocketed in 1970. Why do you think that is Frank? Did they paint the upper decks or mow the grass differently? No, the team was coming off a winning season with up and coming stars like Banks, Santo and Jenkins. If it wasn't for some stupid black cat; fans thought they would have won the NL. "The Greatest Team That Didn't Win" was the headline at that time.

1970-1973 they were above league average attendance until the hype fizzled out and they dipped until 1984. What happened in 1984 Frank? Ivy more beautiful that year? No, They went to the NL Championship and lost. 1984-Present they have been above the league average. WGN (Image) with Harry and Stone created a cult following that blew up with Sosa in the 90's and carried them through their championship run in 2016.

White Sox are missing two out of the three key things. Quality and image. Could make it 1 dollar games and no one wants to visit a boring ballpark in the South Side of Chicago for a team that is dog shit with an owner who loves to feed that dog shit to his fans.

Until that 1989 team started rolling, it was easy to get an entire upper deck row to yourself for a weekday game. I used to take the train down from Evanston when I was in graduate school and get an upper deck ticket and sit a few rows down from what is now the Cubs TV booth. Never a problem bringing in a soda and a bag of chips from the 7-Eleven across the street.

I was stunned when a college friend of mine was back in town for a couple of days in 1989 and we went to Wrigley for a Saturday afternoon game and found out that it was sold out.

It's one thing to lose. But when you lose and you are an unlikable team, which seems to be the case with the sox in recent years, then it is like doubling down.

They've called up Nastrini and Cannon recently, Flexen was the odd man out. Also, he was pretty awful in his first few times through the rotation. Although, it looks like he might have been better than Crochet last night.
