Post subject:  Tajada a possibility for the sox

The sox have the ability to make this trade. Kenny has done a great job getting players and having the teams eat some of the contracts (thome, vazquez)

If the Sox get Tajada they will win 110 games. Win the World Series again. They will average 39,000 a game.

The attendence will hurt Cub fans the most since they value winning the attendence battle more then anything. LOL.

This is strictly a “wait and see” for me. I’m not going to let Levine jerk me around again with tales of superstar players and “nearly done deals”. I’m happy with the job Kenny is doing, but beyond that, I’ll believe it when I see it.

I didn't hear the update...
So, they'd have to trade Uribe, then, obviously?

Post subject:

Yeah it'd have to be Uribe + (Garland/McCarthy/Contreras).

I trust Kenny too, and I know I'm breaking into Buffonics here, but the fact remains that McCarthy is ready, and you now have 6 starting pitchers. Someone's gotta go. Question is for who/what? Tejada would be nice, but let's see what else Kenny has in mind.

I think they'd move Garland before McCarthy.
Especially since the Sox just made the Vasquez trade and Garland only having one year left before he's likely to make 10 million a seaon.

So Garland and Uribe for Tejada...sounds good to me.
They can still have six starters then. Carry the 12 pitchers and have a killer lineup.

Baltimore would probrally rather have McCarthy since Garland is a free agent next yr and McCarthy is making nothing. Not to mention in wont be untill 5 yrs until McCarthy is a free agent.

But isn't there something about matching salaries? or is that only for the NBA?

That's only the NBA (I believe it's within 15%). If they did that in MLB, the Yankees would never be able to pull off a deal!

I'd make that deal in a heartbeat. I don't know if Baltimore would though. According to the Baltimore writer that was on with Mully & Hanley recently, Angelos was asking a king's ransom for Tejada. He even said he wouldn't trade him straight up for Manny. Who knows? We'll just wait and see.

From some stuff I've read earlier, for Tejada, Baltimore would like to get an "attraction" that will bring people to the park. From that standpoint, Contreras is probably the more celebrated one with his Yankee background and numerous specials on the BooyahTV. I would much rather prefer parting with Contreras than Garland. The only reason being the age.

But Baltimore might be looking at it this way. There is no way they can compete with New York and Boston this year. So they might as well get rid of tajada and get multiple players to try to go after them the following year.

I mean they bombed with steroid users Sosa and Palmero last year. They are both gone. Tajada will be bitching when they are 20 games out at the all star game. They won't be able to get as much then because GM's can take advantage when they know a player is bitching.

I am very confident that Kenny will pull this off. Kenny is pumping up the offense because of the remarkable offensive run the Indians made last year. Think about it guys, that team won 93 games last year and they had a crappy first half.

Kenny realizes that. Despite are great pitching Kenny realizes that a Thome and a Tejada will be neccesary to win the division this year.

You're all wrong. A Cub fan called up to Murph's show yesterday and said he heard that the Cubs were getting Tejada for Cedano and a prospect. Take that Sox fans!

This would have sounded much more authoritative, TOGCF (substitute words in italics)

A Bear fan called up to Kathy and Judy show yesterday and said he heard that the Bears were getting Big Frank for starting TE and punt return jobs

Well if a "cub fan" said it, then it must be true.

Well, whatever, it's absolutely true.

I'm guessing KW is going to make a run at Tejada. Chris Young is too good of a prospect to give up just to gain an extra year or two of stability in Vazquez over Contreras/Garland.

Podsednik
Iguchi
Tejada
Thome
Konerko

Would do OK i think. :D

If my name was Ozzie, I would probably switch 3 and 4.

I would switch 4 & 5 and then move Thome to linebacker...

Looks like im a little slow on the Tejada trade. I havent heard the exact report, but i really dont put much stock into anything that Bruce Levine says.

Having said that though, Baltimore will not make this trade unless it is Garland or McCarthy, Uribe and a reasonably high level prospect. If I'm Kenny I send Garland, Uribe and the prospect, not Sweeney or Anderson, and pray that Angelos accepts before he realizes how dumb of a decision he just made.

On the other hand when i first heard the Vazquez trade this morning I immediatly thought that they would turn him around in some kind of package deal to another team. I no longer think that though, due to the fact that would normally be a 3 team deal if he was getting shipped off again. I'm not a huge fan of Vazquez, but if he can somehow return to his Montreal form, look the F out. These guys could be unstoppable, however before we award the 2006 WS, lets all keep in mind the Yankees and Red Sox saw what compiling a team of big names gets you.

There are more moves to come without a doubt...

The Yankees saw it win them several championships in the 90's. The amazing thing is the Sox are doing this without going crazy with the budget. Thome is being payed 7.5 mil, Contrearas 6 mil, Vazquez is under 10 mil, etc.

Look at this trade. The Sox would probably have paid someone before the end of the year to take El Duque off their hands. Vizcaino is no better than the 5th man in the bullpen and possibly worse. This outfield prospect may be a stud and then again... all in exchange for a pitcher with ace potential. I think it is a good move.

They'll already do that, try and get season ticket info and see where your seats will be, and tickets haven't gone on sale yet

isn't this the EXACT reason the Sox probably wouldn't sign Tejada?? Isn't he making a FAIR amount of money? And wouldn't the Sox have to pick up ALOT of that money should they acquire his services??

Tejada makes less than the deal Furcal just got. If Baltimore picks up even a fraction of the money, I see it as a good deal...

and of course the trade can't go through because of the matching salaries

THEY WILL NOT FULL UP THE UPPER DECK EVERY GAME BECAUSE THYE HAVE A FAN BASE THAT CAN NOT AFFORD TO GO TO EVERY GAME
