White Sox's Brian Anderson shut down
By Mark Gonzales

Brian Anderson hurt his lower right side (perhaps an oblique muscle?) while trying to get around on a 97-m.p.h David Aardsma fastball here in the seventh inning. After consulting with Herm Schneider and Ozzie Guillen, Anderson left the game.

As we've seen around the majors in recent years, strained obliques can be a nuisance that take a week or two to heal. Of course, that's a layman's diagnosis. We'll update when the Sox offer official word. Anderson said he was advised by trainer Herm Schneider to not to test his right side. From the delibrate manner in which he spoke, he could be headed to the disabled list.

Update of the update:
Sox brass says it's a mild oblique strain and that Anderson is considered day-to-day. That means the Sox could be minus three guys on Friday in Texas (Anderson, Chris Getz, Jim Thome), unless Getz fulfills Ozzie's prediction that he'll be ready...and the brass fulfills the growing sense that Thome will go on the D.L. for a week.

Meanwhile, Jerry Owens carried his bag and shook hands with teammates before leaving the clubhouse. The Sox said they will not make any roster moves until Friday, but Scott Podsednik could be promoted if Owens is off the roster.

Whoa whoa whoa. Where did this little gem come from? Anderson gets hurt so they cut Owens?? That's what I call a push, my friend. 8)

I just hope BA is ok by this weekend. I've always wanted him to get significant playing time, and he was just showing that he is really an MLB hitter.

The SCORE/Sun-Times White Sox insider Joe Cowley says Jerry Owens was spotted packing his bags after today's game, and he may be the next guy to get his walking papers that may pave the way for Scott Podsednik to join the Southsiders Friday night in Arlington, TX. If "Pods" gets the call, I wonder if Joshua Fields may have to give up the #22 on his silver & black White Sox uniform...

I thought they sold a lot of Dr. Pepper down there...The company is based in Dallas, not far from where the White Sox are playing this weekend. :?

Do some research before you open that dumbass trap of yours.

Even with that 0-9, he is 9-27 (an even .300) over his last 10 games. And he leads the team in avg at the moment. Not bad for a 4th OF that can't hit.

If that doesn't impress you, take your goddam high horse up to Wrigley.

You're an idiot.

Having Scottie Pods as the Sox starting centerfielder makes you a meatball fan. How's the spin master Kenny look now?????? Jag weed

Who said anything about Pods? Am I'm a meatball fan because he may happen to play CF this weekend? Like I signed the guy? KW isn't even the issue here. Its Brian Anderson, and the fact that he HAS been producing at the plate all year. You tried to zing my by pointing out that Anderson was 0 for his last 9. Fair enough, a bad couple of games. But over his last 10 games, he is still well above .300. He also leads the team (or is maybe 2nd now) in batting average. He's been getting on base at a terrific clip all year. A fact you are either too stupid or stubborn to recognize. I'll betting the farm on the former. If you want to zing me, zing me. Lord knows there's dozens of opportunities to do so. But don't piss on my leg and tell me its raining, and don't try to change the subject and grab at straws to try and prove your point. Its over, you lost. To lowly old me. Suck on that for a while, dipshit.
