That explains why Joe Crede is a Minnesota Twin, and why the John Travolta (Barbarino from "Welcome Back, Kotter")-looking Magglio Ordonez is a Detroit Tiger. Both guys are Scott Bora$ clients.

Drafting in baseball is not easy. You can make a list like that for a lot of teams. Especially ones that have routinely drafted as late as the Sox have over the last decade +.

Tell that to the Red Sox, who have drafted later than the White Sox, yet have a loaded farm system.

Are you telling me that drafting past 25 in the first round your not going to get a player who SHOULD make the majors? Thats an excuse.

The Wsox drafting failure starts at scouting, and to an extent Kenny considering he signs off on those talen, but the Wsox usually hit gold in the later rounds with south american pitchers they trade for proven talent.

The Poofer- Beckham will be the best SS in baseball in three years, book it.

Did you ever watch "Welcome Back, Kotter" back in the mid '70s? :? John Travolta's hair as "Vinnie Barbarino" back then looks like the mop that Magglio's got now with the Tigers...By the way, Mags, 1976 called and they want their hair back!

wut...all drafts are basically the same. the difference is in how long it takes the player to be useful in the major league of the respective sport. in the nfl you draft the best player over need 9/10...at least in the first 2-3 rounds.

baseball's different in that you're drafting kids a lot of times when they're 18-19 years old, and they're "prospects". it's a system. but you still draft who you think is best over what you need.

Besides Carlos Quentin, you have to wonder what is really to build around? Beckham looked really good in spring training, but is unproven to date at the major league level. Ramirez is either starting slow again, before heating up, or the league figured him out. Thome is gone after this season. Dye will be gone after this season, if not the trade deadline. Fields looks like he's gonna strike out 150 or more times and plays mediocre defense-at best and Diane Viciedo not looking major league ready. Plus, the two young pitchers they were counting on (Danks and Floyd) look like anything but studs of late. Can't hold too much of this on Ozzie. When you have an ownership that trims about 30-40 million from the payroll and can't pull of a decent trade, the blame belongs with Reinsdorf and Williams.
