So he will get fired because KW gave him shit and nothing to fill out the bottom of his rotation, last chance prospects at CF and 3B and no leadoff hitter.

Dewayne Wise was his CF coming out of spring training. Ponder that for a moment.

As recently as a month ago, there were people (on this very board) pushing Getz for ROY consideration.....

Has Keith Law been hangin' around fellow ESPNer Steve Phillips? :? :? The former Mets' General Manager, now part of the ESPN "Sunday Night Baseball" team with Jon Miller and his white collar dress shirt and that crabby Hall-of-Famer who shall remain nameless, has always put Ozzie on the hot seat every year, even before Ozzie's White Sox won the World Series in 2005. I take this ESPN.com columnist's word with a grain of salt. Ozzie ain't going anywhere...

Everyone knows it's not Ozzies fault. As much as I dislike the guy this was a poorly constructed team.
KW is a bad GM. Sorry but he is. And don't give me any Hendry crap, he sucks too.

Darkside, I disagree about Kenny Williams being a bad General Manager over the long haul, but his moves this season appear to have struck out. While the additions of Alex Rios via waivers and Jake Peavy appear to be misses right now, I'm not so sure they would've helped that much this year anyway. I think what happened was that the deals he made involving Nick Swisher and the young pitchers the Yankees gave the White Sox, the Javy Vazquez deal with the Braves, and the one with Brandon Allen going to the D-Backs for reliever Tony Pena, Jr. haven't panned out like he thought. Also, keep in mind that the recession prevented Kenny and other GMs around Bud Selig's Major League Baseball from having the $$$$ to sign guys like Bobby Abreu, soon to be postseason-bound with Anaheim, and Orlando Hudson, soon to be playoff-bound himself with the Dodgers, to the kinds of deals the Sox were hoping to spend to bring them here. Besides, Uncle Jerry lost a couple of sponsors in the offseason, too, and he's worried that the economic recovery may not be sufficient enough for Kenny to have the $$$$ to land Chone Figgins from Anaheim as so many seem to think. He's not afraid to make the boldest moves, and hopefully, he'll do a better job in the offseason this winter. Besides, I think Kenny & Ozzie for the most part are still very much on the same page...

I don't get the Kenny Williams bashing either. I think he has done a good job. Not every one of his trades turns into gold, but I can't think of a time where he has gotten taken, either.

Swisher to the Yankees was addition by subtraction. They just needed that fucking mope out of the clubhouse. Any contribution by the guys that they got back would have been icing on the cake.

Obtaining Swisher in the first place may not have been his best move. However, until Gio Gonzalez or Sweeney starts setting the AL on fire, it does not bother me too much.

The guy takes chances. He makes smart decisions. He clearly wants to win more than anything else. He does the best with what the club gives him to work with. What more could you want?

I'm not a huge fan of Bernsie, but I agree with him when he said Ozzie will manage the Sox for as long as he wants to. I think Ozzie will be the Sox skipper for a long time and I am OK with that.

Ozzie is going nowhere unless he wants to leave.

I am a Cubs fan. I will take Kenny and Ozzie if anyone is ready to let them go. Be happy with what you have Sox fans. They are both very good if not great.

I tell my wife the same thing.
Although, if Ozzie left the Sock, he would be alright. However, if I left my wife, I would live in a cardboard box.

Ozzie chose a guy with a similar average as his starter in CF this year.

Let me guess...Brian Anderson, who got quite an ovation when he stepped to the plate Friday night when the White Sox won 12-2 going away Friday night over the Red Sox... If not, DeWayne Wise...

Totally agree with this for at least next year and probably the year after that. It will take a really underperforming year to knock him out... if they finish 4th in the division, then maybe we can talk, but if we are in the top three, then Ozzie's the guy for a while.

Won't even matter if they finish 4th. He has the job for life. Reinsdorf will fire Kenny Williams before he fires Ozzie, and Kenny probably has his job for life too.
