Watching the ALCS and listening to the accoldaes being tossed at Swisher. How great of a teammate he is, how he fits in perfectly, how he busts balls, how they bust them back. Sounds to me a bit like Ozzie coudln't take someone else busting balls. |

He's been a solid contributor to the Yankees. "Dirty 30" may have a WS ring for 2009 in a couple weeks. If he's WS MVP, do the Sox bring back his worm commercials and build a statue outside the park, to capitalize on his notoriety?? |

The guy had a terrible year for the Sox in 2008. AWFUL......he was expected to actually produce here....anything he does for the Yankees with all of their hitters is gravy. |

If Xavier Nady was healthy, Swisher would have been the 4th OF/backup 1st baseman like he was here. |

I would have thought that new Yankee Stadium effect for pull hitters would have somehow goofed up his stats. Oddly he hit a lot of his homers on the road. |

Swisher did what he always does, hit home runs and walk. His numbers are very similar to what they were last season. He had a spike in doubles (thanks to the ballpark) which led to a modest spike in rbi and slugging. .......g...ab... r...h..2B.3b.hr.rbi..bb..k...ba...obp...slg..ops 2008 153 497 86 109 21 1 24 69 82 135 .219 .332 .410 .743 2009 150 498 84 124 35 1 29 82 97 126 .249 .371 .498 .869 |

His approach is terrible but his results are moderately average. It's hard to say if his clown demeanor helps or hurts a team, probably nil effect. |

It's easy to hit better when you're in the lower part of that lineup and always batting with someone on base and getting pitches to hit. |

.869 OPS and that was in large part due to his increase in doubles which led to an .088 increase in slugging %. |

Reading is a skill. I said rbi and slugging is a modest increase. If the rise in slugging was due to a large increase in home runs instead of doubles it would be different. |

Like last year with the White Sox, he has an absolutely dreadful 2nd half of the season. |

Jackass Swisher is what, 1 for the Minnesota series and 0 for the Angels series....He was one of the biggest clowns ever to play for the Sox.... |
