I'm not gonna do it.

I'm not going to be the guy to say anything about the nay-sayers, or say anything about the pitching performance that even eludes to anything ANYONE has said about the rotation's issues as of late.

I will merely say that nothing has changed about the team; they can still beat up on the best teams in the league... good job Garland on showing your true colors...

... and that's it. I'm done.

Ugueth I was hoping you'd wait till the series was over. I wanted to make your point if they swept or took 2 out of 3. But for those who judge everything by the most recent game this goes to show the sky is not falling. And even if we sweep the Tigers I won't say "It's over and the Tigers suck". It's 162 everybody. Even after the Yankee sweep we still had the second best reccord. I have a feeling the Sox will meet the Tigers in the ALCS no matter who wins this division. That series will probrally go seven.

I am glad that the Sock won tonight, but Vazquez is still pitching tomorrow, right? Looks like Contreras will need to pull one out on Thursday to clinch a series win for us....On the other hand, if you think that one victory in a three-game series is something worth gloating over, you have really low standards.

...And by the way, I have been saying that the pitching and defense need to be tightened up for awhile now, not just since the Boston series. There's still a lot of games to be played and we will see what happens if and when Dombrowski gets Soriano to play left for the Tiger.

I'd rather they get Soriano and have to trade some of their young pitching to be honest. Zumaya for Soriano sounds about right. :?

Let me right this down. Midget says we need good defense and good pitching. Who would have thought that was neccesary.

Just kidding Midget. I think for the most part everybody here see's the same thing. While the defense has lost us a few games this year I can also recall several games that Crede won with his glove early in the year. Dye has been great defensively this year. Uribe has lost 2 games this year with his glove throwing away double play balls. But he's also made some plays that very few short stops would make. Those plays deep in the hole with his gun of an arm. Konerko picks tough hops alot. Iguchi is a top 5 defensive 2nd baseman. Anderson is solid defensively. Pods sucks defensively and we have suffered with Macoviak and Ozuna. Before this most recent bad month Buhrle and Contrarous were top 10 A.L pitchers. Garland's been the best on the staff during their bad starts as of late. It's not as bleak as you make it out. Evidence with the reccord.

It was a great win tonight but I'm going to reserve judgement until the end of the series. If Vazquez and Contreras can finally bring their A games back, this will be a huge statement series. Good to see Anderson keeping up the hot hitting.

Yes, it's really nice to see him starting to come around. Hopefully we won't have to see the Rob Makowiak fielding cataclysm in center much longer.

OK, but you can generally bash your way to victories during the regular season. The playoffs, however, are usually a different story. Time will tell, I suppose.

I hope I don't have to hear any more Anderson trade rumors. That would be the worst mistake in recent history with his great defense and offensive potential. I trust Kenny to make the right decision but am sick of the trade rumors.

Don't get me wrong gentlemen... I obviously realize it was merely the first game in a very important series. Perhaps I need to post another 200 messages before everyone picks up on my sarcasim and sense of humor, but by no means am I shutting the lid on this series. If nothing else I was merely drawing attention to those who are so ready to discount a good team for flashes of weakness (against two historically successful teams at that, to bring recent games to mind).... but am being careful to not sound like I'm busting the brooms out just because of one win.

Agreed. Of all of the young talent to potentially play on the big team, I don't want to see Anderson used as trade bait. He has way too much upside. After watching him in the outfield for a half season, it's easy to tell that he is a far better fielder than the heralded and unusually spooged-over Rowand. If he can hit just a little better than he is now, he'll fit perfectly where he is. He's only going to get better (as soon as he stops thinking about hitting).

Seems like the Tigers have banked too many wins NOT to, Nas. Though, it would not even have to be that monumental of a collapse for it to happen, as the top ends of the Central and the East are clearly the class of MLB, and the slightest misstep could land you on the outside looking in, and that applies to all 4-6 teams that fall within this category.

Somebody check on Nas at his house, I think he is overheating.

I swear to god I was yelling at Ozzie to go to the Bull pen to start the 6th. Despite the fact that he had a shut out I knew Vasquez was about to implode. Yeah he gave up a couple of cheap hits. But whatever, they got on. Then, like Vasquez often does, he hangs that damn slider. I swear to god he just gets lazy. He just doesn't snap that wrist enough. He has the stuff to avoid these innings but he implodes when guys get on base. He hung about 5 and only two got hit hard.

 This loss blows goats! Instead of having a shot at a 3 game swing in the standings, we're left with the chance to make of up 1 fucking game. If I know it's time to yank Vasquez, then why doesn't Ozzie? Cocksucking Tigers!

Anderson is on second with no outs and the Sock get nothing out of it??? Bad baseball.
