So you're saying there's no best team in baseball right now?

You know what, that is the most correct post out of any in this entire thread. There are many peaks and valleys for every team in this last 1/4 of the season. I think Chicagoans are so unfamiliar with this territory that we do not have a good perspective of a playoff race.

Tigers are the best team. Yet the Sox are 8-3 against them. They don't have to win the division to play them in the ALCS. I'm sure you'll say they are the best team too Midget. But of the wild card contenders who is better in your opinoin? Seriously, I'd like to know who you think is better.

Yes I was off on the 110

Seeing how in the last 100 years only 5 teams have won 110 games. Yes, I would agree that you were off. That statement did make you look like a Kool-aid drinking yahoo. I believe that is why TM loves giving you shit.

The teams are:

1906 Cubs - 116 Wins
1927 Yankees (Murders Row) - 110 Wins
1954 Indians - 111 Wins
1998 Yankees - 114 Wins
2001 Mariners - 116 Wins

***The 1995 Indians only played 144 games due to a strike. Had they played those 18 games and maintained their .694 winning percentage they would have won 112 games.

See when I make predictions I like to step out a little bit. Was it a bold prediction. Yes. But I really believed it. Hey I was wrong. They'd have 110 in the NL however. LOL. But, hey they don't play in that league. Yes I was wrong.

I had the Twins beating the Sox for the wild card before Liriano's injury. That was the basis for my prediction that the Sox wouldn't make the playoffs. With a healthy Liriano, I like the Twins a lot. With Liriano on the DL, the Sox have a good chance to make the playoffs, although I think Boston will start playing better. My question to you is this: Do you think Detroit will collapse down the stretch?

They would have 110 wins right now in the national league

Will the Tigers break down? Depends on your defintion. I predicted the Sox to take the division on this board 2 weeks ago. But the Tigers will get the Wild Card. So that's not a break down in my opinion. It's either Sox win the division and Tigers get Wild Card. Or even if it's vise versa the White Sox will end up playing the Tigers in the ALCS. So it doesn't matter. It will be a great series.
