I'd say the latter. We Sox fans have an inherent inferiority complex - probably the worst of any fanbase in sports. Despite the WS win in 2005, many of my bretheren still believe the Sox always be third behind the Cub and the Bear in Chicago (and they'd be right). Trust me, Sox fans always manage to find the negative side of any situation.

I doubt that the Cardinals fans would bitch about that because they usually get the national love. They strike me as being more laid back because they know Cardinals baseball is the #1 act in their town; bigger than the Rams and the Blues, so they don't have to compete for attention from St. Louis sports fans. I don't think Cardinals fans could care less about making the cover of SI.

Rex is the undisputed league MVP to this point in the season. He has arguably had as big an impact on the defense as he has on the offense.

I would argue Drew Brees in NO has had even more than Rex.

As for the MVP, Rex is in the picture, but the awesome defense may actually hurt his chances.

By bringing up Brooks you're supporting my point Nas.
The change from Brooks to Brees has made Duece & Horn much better.
Consequently their ability to sustain some drives on offense this year makes the defense more effective.

IMO, the net impact of Brooks to Brees is greater than the change from Orton to Grossman.

Couldn't disagree with this more. While Brooks has been bad, he's at least performed at a pro bowl level in the past. I think it was always said about him that he was "just good enough to break your heart". As for Orton, he was "just good enough to not do anything at all and let the defense win it for them".

I know he was - but this year they use him.

Let me approach it this way.
In 2005 the Bears were 11-5 and Saints were 3-13.
When I did my rankings at the start of the 2006 season I penciled the Bears in for a 12-4 season and the Saints for 4-12.

It's obvious to me that the Saints are the NFL's biggest surprise thus far, but we differ on how much of the credit goes to Brees.
