he's been fine, i think knowing he went to HF and grew up a sox fan has me being more accepting of his work thus far.

I just rediscovered this thread.

Despite what I posted a month ago, if they fired that clown & Stone now I'd be just fine. Yes, they're so bad that I almost cannot stomach watching wins.

They are not good. The only saving grace is that Hawk & Stone are a lot better now that Stone isn't so tense from working with Hawk everyday. Their broadcast has a much better and looser feel than it ever has.

I think that may have more to do with Hawk. Aside from his JRollins HOF talk, he's been much, much more relaxed (& forgiving  ).

Maybe, just maybe we should give them more than four regular season games to call before we start throwing dirt on their graves.

Benetti is a little wound up and overeager, that'll dissipate with time.

I wish he had come in with some nifty catchphrases, or at least a winner call. "THIS BALLGAME IS OVA" is my least favorite thing in the fucking world. I hate "THIS BALLGAME IS OVA" more than Elmhurst Steve hates the new $20 bill. Sox haven't had a good winner call since Rooney left for Stl.

This is part of the problem.

The days of personalities like Harry and Hawk are coming to an end.

This vanilla, bland announcer of today sucks IMO.

Teams don't want to take the risk that a big personality guy might say "burrito" or something.

In defense of these new broadcasters, it's not like you can drink during the games like Harry. Or even talk about getting drunk every day. Or lust over girls in the crowd like Harry did. I'm sure many of them booze it up and are sexist pigs. But you'll be fired if you celebrate it or display this behavior on the air.

So you can't have a personality like Harry did. Even if you wanted to. Because you'd be fired.

He sounds like a guy who does mid-week ESPN games. I guess that's technically better than Hawk, but I now miss the weird, shitty, just-a-bit-off feel of White Sox telecasts.

It was like everyone involved with the production was just a little bit in over their heads.

Bill Artlip has been doing these It's Just Lunch spots where he talks about all the great dates he goes on thanks to his matchmaker April. They've been running for like six months. Maybe it's time to just date April.

How about just maybe some should stay in their comfort zone, like evaluating the 10-12 possible breakfast dishes over and over. And the coffee, don't forget the coffee. :)

Benetti is just..meh. He's fine.

While I'm not a Sock fan, I like Hawk. He's one of the last true personalities doing games. I'll miss him when he's gone.

I have to admit I still listen to the Wegner rant every three months or so....

I've finally had some time to listen to Benetti and I like him. He and Stone do not have any chemistry, but I think it's impossible for anyone to gel with Stone.
He's certainly on the vanilla / bland side, but he has a smooth easy delivery. Once upon a time I liked Hawk, but he's just done and stale. It's time for him to hang it up.
I would be curious to hear DJ with Benetti. I think they'd blend much better than Stone.

Overall....I like him. His job is PBP and he's good at it. He needs a better color analyst. I don't think we'll have to wait very long to see that.

This guy is good but needs to chill the fuck out a little. He raises his voice on almost every mini scenario acting like its the biggest event / happening / play ever!! It's the second inning he acts like every 3 - 2 pitch is with a game on the line or something. I've noticed this a lot lately and it's becoming annoying as hell. Relax the voice a little dude and understand when "drama" is really dramatic. Stop trying so hard.
