Reports out that the Knicks are interested in trading for D Rose.

What in the hell do the Knicks have that would help the Bulls?

Pretty much nothing.

at this point why move him? let him leave via FA and not take on a bunch of bad contracts... this will be his best season since the MVP year since it's pretty clear money is the only thing that motivates him

I don't believe this is true but if it is they need to dump him immediately.

I don't think the Knicks have any interest, I don't believe it. Sounds like a Reggie Rose fairytale.

It does not matter what you get back. Next season should be about positioning for a high pick in the lottery. Not this mediocre basketball hell mentality that's existed (outside of a couple years with Thibs) since Jordan left.

Rose will be good next year. Get his contract and go back to mailing it in.

Idk why any fan would want to sit through another year of false hope.

If Rose is good, and you keep Jimmy, but lose Pau then you are right back where you were this year. Late lottery. In the NBA, you have to at least crack the top 10 if you want to find someone who could be a starter. Preferably, top 3. This isn't the NFL or MLB.

Jerry wants his playoff revenue though and GarPax don't want to admit they've ruined the team, which is exactly what they'd be doing if they embrace the tank.

Jerry won't see playof revenue regardless this season, and probably next year as well.

If Garpax can't accept the on and off the court issues of last year's Bulls team than they do not deserve to make personnel decisions for this team.

I swear to God if these two chuckleheads sign Harrison Barnes this summer I'm relinquishing my Bulls fandom until the front office is restructured.

Nah they'll more likely convince themselves that they can reach the second round (which is actually their only real goal) since Hoiberg will magically turn into a good coach and Rose and Butler will magically gel because they worked out together for a week in the summer.

Plus, don't forget all the awful injuries they had to deal with this year! This team probably would've made the Eastern Conference Finals if they had the services of their major wing signing from the 2015 offseason, Mike Dunleavy Jr.

Exactly. The man is a cancer on the team, locker room and court. He's made it clear in every possible way that nobody else matters and he is in it for himself, his future and his money.

Now, I don't fault a guy for looking out for number one (see what I did there?) but there have been many formidable pros who were able to do that, win, be a good teammate and not be a major diva and distraction.

If there is a chance to get rid of this guy they should do it as quickly as possible.

Other than being MVP for one season, what has he accomplished?

I'm sure that's the company line, but this team will be the joke of the league with that mentality.

Top tier free agents simply do not want to play here. Without a top lottery pick this team is more than a few years away from contending. The front office may not see it. You, me, and the majority of NBA fans recognize this team is dog shit.

The Bulls can't expect to move Rose and get useful assets in return. It's probably hard enough to get a team to take his salary in the first place - all they are getting in return is salaries adding up to Rose's or a similar player on a bad contract.

This report sounds like a typical NY rumor - a NY team has talked about trading for someone else's player. Top story.

I highly doubt they would take any players back with contracts beyond this season. At best, it would just be shaking up the roster and maybe they get a role player or two who better fit the Hoiberg offense.

If Rose is good, and Butler is an all-star, the team would have a good chance of making the playoffs again, but it's not a contender. Unfortunately, I can see the Bulls front office being content with making the playoffs again after this season.

They can actually free up enough space this off-season to sign Barnes to a max deal. If they don't do it, at least 2-3 other teams will probably find a way to do so. Crazy money to come this summer.

I know they can, but it would be the worst free agent acquisition in Bulls history.
