Sell the team and move to Fargo...or Seattle.

The hope is the Bulls will be competitive this upcoming season, showing off Butler and Lopez, along with youth like Doug McDermott, Grant, and Denzel Valentine, who they landed with the 14th overall pick Thursday. And will take that package into the 2017 offseason with cap space for possibly two maximum players in a summer loaded with talented free agents such as Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin and Kyle Lowry.
Yeah guys show off these players in a season-long battle for 8 seed.

Not the cap space trick again. The upper echelon max guys will more than likely resign with their current team. The Bulls will end up overpaying for guys that really aren't max players. In an effort to do something they will end up hurting the team even more.

We all know how this movie ends.

Coaching
I know Hoiberg has his detractors but I think it's still a bit too early to make a call on his coaching ability. In fairness to him and those of us who predicted much better success for the Bull last year, we were unaware of the issues between Butler and the rest of the squad. Those issues need to get sorted out one way or another. Strikes against him include not sticking to his guns and running things his way, as well as not putting the kibosh on whichever assistant coach was brought in to be a stooge for the front office. So going forward, can he and Butler co-exsist? If so then great but if not, a move needs to be made sooner rather than later.

Hiring Hoiberg with the veteran heavy roster going into last season was a major mistake. I knew that was going to blow up in his face, and I called them missing the playoffs before the season began. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt if the Bulls are going into a full rebuilding project. He has success at the college level, and could possibly work well with a team trying to go very young. The Bulls should have either held onto Thibs for one extra year, or they should have started dismantling this team after last season. Bringing a new rookie coach into a situation where the entire roster was staying and many on that roster were very loyal to the previous coach was a recipe for disaster.

Agreed. They also surrounded Hoiberg with YMCA coaches. They set him up to fail.

@CodyWesterlund Gar Forman confirms that there are no changes on the Bulls bench regarding assistant coaches.

Thank goodness this team will continue to have the leadership of Randy Brown on the bench.

It makes no difference. They are going to suck for the foreseeable future. And wait until you see who turns them down in a few years.

Agreed. The Bulls should full blown tank. They will be overpaying for mediocre free agents. One of the undersold parts about teams like S.A. and G.S. has to do with salary. They have won without max contracts or guys being vastly overpaid. The free agent game rarely works.

Harrison Barnes come on down.

With the right tweaking, you could be back in the playoff picture.

Hey at least the Bull hooked him up with a gig when he fell on hard times.

Why can't the Bears give the Fridge an ambassador gig?

Suddenly, it's 2010 again. Can confirm @WojVerticalNBA report that Bulls are among teams in talks with Dwayne Wade's reps. 2-yr deal.

Not only the organization but apparently he owes Gar Forman. Randy Brown's ties to Gar Forman goes back much further than his ties to Reinsdorf. Gar Forman was the recruiting coordinator for New Mexico State. Randy Brown along with a slew of Chicago high school products were recruited to New Mexico State during the time he was the recruiting coordinator for New Mexico State. I remember that team. They had about 9 Chicago guys on it and they were really good. A lot of them like Brown came from Jucos. He and Randy Brown go way back.

Chicago Bulls Talk
‏@BullsSource
Bulls Status = 10 players under 26, 9 rookie contracts, $26m cap space, $60+m cap space next summer, all/other teams picks, no bad contracts

If you don't trust the Paxson/Forman front office I can't blame you, but I don't think the situation is as dire as most believe.

One part is a distrust in them, but the other part has to do with the way in which the system is constructed. It's designed for the best players to remain with their current team. They will sign a couple of guys after next season but it's highly doubtful that any guy they sign will be a game changer. They will be guys of the Chandler Parsons variety.

They've never gotten the big fish either. Seeing the way they blast their current best player and how they dumped Rose I doubt many stars will be itching to come here. I don't trust Gar and I'm souring on Paxson.

Then what is the way out?

Even if you keep missing on the big free agents, don't you have to keep swinging hoping you hit the eventual home-run?
