The Bulls added to their backcourt depth on Tuesday, signing Isaiah Canaan to a two-year deal worth $2.2 million, according to CSN Bulls Insider Vincent Goodwill. The second year is a team option, according to Goodwill.

Canaan, 25, spent parts of the last two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. The shoot-first point guard averaged 11.0 points and 2.3 3-pointers in 77 games (39 starts) for the Sixers last year. He'll likely begin the year on the depth chart behind free-agent acquisition Rajon Rondo and trade acquisition Jerian Grant, but his perimeter shooting will be important for a Bulls backcourt lacking it.

Last season Canaan made 176 3-pointers, more than the 133 Rondo, Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler combined for a year ago.

He suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder in the final month of the season, and became a free agent when the rebuilding 76ers opted not to give him a qualifying offer.

Canaan was selected in the second round (34th overall) by the Houston Rockets in 2013. He's a career 36 percent 3-point shooter.

Too bad he isn't going to make the team because Grant has a guaranteed contract and can't shoot either. Doesn't really matter though any player on the Bulls that can shoot can't play any D and any player that can play any D at all can't shoot with the exception of Butler/Taj and Taj is gonna be traded anyways. Going to be an epic clusterfuck of a Bulls season.

Suddenly, what Chicago needed most — cap relief — the Raptors were not able to offer.

Is it safe to assume that had the Wade opportunity not presented itself, we'd be looking a full blown rebuild attempt?

I don't know about full blown. I think once the draft passed and they didn't trade Butler the most we were gonna get is a half blown rebuild. Kind of a disinterested handjob of a season.

Bobby Portis will be good with the right coach. He has talent. Not sure he's gonna make it on the Bulls.

When you have one of the worst front office/coach combos in the league it's tough to hold out much hope for potential to actualize itself into something useful. But playing McBuckets at the 4 is the answer to all of this roster's problems. The future is so bright I gotta wear shades.

E'Twaun Moore is a decent player. He would be in the rotation on any decent team, and some teams would be lucky to have him as their 3rd guard. The Bulls will miss him.

Don't give up on Snell just yet.

He could be a valuable role player.

Trying to hang in there with him but it's tough to roll when a journeyman guy like Holiday comes in and immediately starts taking minutes from him. It seems like they are ready to abort mission with him.
